I have always wanted to have a lucid dream, but it just never happened. So do you guys know any tried and tested methods to control your dreams?

Or do you know any other ways to make dreams fun that aren't lucid dreaming.

I have always just had it happen randomly. Ever since I was a kid, when I dream I am always very close to realizing I'm dreaming. Something is off, it's hard to describe. One day I just realized I was dreaming, so I thought I would try what all the people say you can do. I tried to fly. I jumped up into the air and I took off like fucking Superman it was actually very exhilarating. I always thought people were exaggerating about the things you can do during a lucid dream but they aren't. It's genuinely an otherworldly experience. I'm also extremely prone to sleep paralysis episodes, maybe that's related somehow.

one tip which has made a big difference for me, you have to maintain a balance between dream vividness and calmness

if you get too focused or strained exhilerated or anxious, your heart rate can inrease, and you can wake up accidentally
but also, you need to focus somewhat for the dream to be vivid, and to maintain control

if you feel yourself beginning to wake up, you can spin several times in the dream
i've heard that helps somehow

Sleep paralysis though? That shit is terrifying. First time it happened to me I was 15 years old going to bed on a Sunday night. I "woke", I couldn't breathe, I couldn't move I didn't know what was happening to me and I panicked. I tried to shout for help, but could not do so. I was looking at my open bedroom door and there was a little girl standing there. Like a demon or something, ragged clothing, dark black hair wearing some sort of gown. I was losing my shit and then suddenly I was able to move and broke free from it. Immediately went and looked up what the fuck I just had happen to me and found out about sleep paralysis. Tried to tell my doctor about it because it was a frequent thing, but at that time I guess it wasn't as well known. She thought I was dreaming.

What's the scariest though, is when it feels like something is grabbing you by your ankles and trying to pull you out of bed. If you ever do experience an episode of sleep paralysis focus on moving your toes and fingers, often that helps activate the muscles for whatever reason and "wakes" your body up.

Dreams are so weird. It's like a universe within your own mind or something. Or a gate to something else even. Considering there is these tips that seem to have some level of common success, that implies some sort of commonality to the experience, as if there are laws to the dream like laws to nature.

for me personally, its preparing a night before with the type of dream you want and guiding yourself to control it, the issue is once you master this you will ALWAYS lucid dream, i find myself trying to not lucid as the normal dreams can evoke much more interesting stuff.
