Welcome to my shit blog post. So I visited Reddit after I quit it for good 10 years ago. Got kind of tired of 4chan being called "hate machine of the internet" or whatever.
Obviously, I knew what I was getting into. Had to mute every political sub immediately, because this crap is just unreadable. It was pleasant to see that people occasionally do deviate from the safe space mindset. But holy shit, every sub has a rainbow flag. Even a fucking DMC sub has one, why?? Tranny flags on pfps everywhere.
But some things caught me off guard. First, just how shallow the conversation really is. Taking 4chins, you'd think it's all edgy retards calling each other fags, while Reddit is for wholesome, intellectual conversation. Right? Almost the opposite. Reddit is absolutely braindead most of the time.
But the 2nd thing is, just how depressing it became. It caught me off guard honestly, but sometimes it feels like everyone over 16 on Reddit is clinically depressed, on Xanax, regularly goes to therapy and plans to kill themselves when they hit 30. It's seriously like walking in a psych ward.
Third, politics. Yeah I know, it's Reddit. But some parts are just so far gone, it's like reading Chinese state propaganda. Leaving the site before 2016 was absolutely perfect timing, I didn't even think things would get this bad.
Otherwise, a lot stayed the same. Normie tier jokes that get aborted before they get funny. Woman from Twitter with her hilarious story about her husband #4852952951. Wholesome atheist gifts a heckin private jet to an autistic black girl, and so on.
But it also feels something was lostโ€ฆ The underage silliness and fedora tipping of old pre-2016 reddit got completely replaced by depressed lefties. Honestly I thought 4chan was supposed to be "repulsive" and "a political echo chamber", until I visited nu Reddit.
Thanks for reading my wall of text I guess.

Avoid popular subreddits
those are mostly bots, NPCs and teenagers

The truth is that most people are retarded in terms of political awareness and literacy/understanding of culture, politics and the relevant history in general.

There is this ignorant assumption and an egregious hubris with modern day man. That the old ways (ex. The Saxon's Bloody Code) were born out of cruelty and stupidity when in reality it was necessity and pragmatism that gave way to these things. With that necessity and pragmatism, the systems that were created transformed or were destroyed and rebuilt in a new image. This is what led to the comforts of the modern day and also gave way to retards who think they are somehow different and better than all of written history because it's current year and they support popular thing and idealism.

Total fall from grace never before seen in history with regards to Europe and the west in general.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but "less popular" subreddits were just different type of cancer. Either they're half dead, or costs l consist of posts like "do you ship these characters", fanfiction and other underage posting, basic surface level questions, completely clueless hot takes, and so on.

Ok. I guess any media discussion is gonna be plagued by these issues in reddit. What are at least some decent subs? Something that hasn't anything to do with media? I guess more practical subs and advice from Reddit is alright

most of the decent subs are usually irl hobbies sadly. Stuff like photography or fishing and camping or martial arts.
4chan and twitter are probably some of the few places where tou have like 30 - 50 year olds still watching anime
most other places on the internet it's teenagers

idk what to tell you do most communities are shit to interact with nowadays.
4chan included.
I usually just lurk reddit and have my own custom feeds for when i dont wanna be met with memes and shitposts constantly.
If you're looking for discussion on stuff you're better off switching hobbies and going outside as you arent gonna get that on modern internet

I mostly only visit cringe subreddits so I can grab vids and post them on ylyl threads on /gif/ and /wsg/. besides that the only other times I visit reddit are for instructional purposes (e.g. modding a game, cleaning a particular appliance or spot in my place, troubleshooting computer issues..
etc)
