the previous owner left it upright for a decade and a half causing the cork to dry out and thus oxygen got in and spoiled it over time. You are supposed to leave corked bottles on their side so the cork remains swelled thus preventing outside air from getting in

Its not good for drinking but its good for cooking, it has its own unique flavor profile like worcester sauce or onions sauce and when you cook what alcohol is left evaporates since it has a lower boiling temperature

I haven't been able to eat shrimp since I had to deconstruct them from whole a few years ago.
It's not just the vein. There's organs and shit in there. I found some sort of weird piss sack that is definitely in a region that gets eaten on even the cleanest shrimp.

Maybe, yeah. That's a good point. I haven't touched shrimp since then so I wouldn't know. Every time I've thought about trying shrimp all I can think about is biting into a piss sack, so permanently ruined for me lol

The funny thing is, southern folk cook crawfish whole and just suck everything out. They boil them and don't process or remove anything. Just suck 'em whole.

There's nothing inherently unhealthy about this process. I just can't anymore because its an irrational phobia. That weird sack was probably a fluke as well, but also probably not harmful in any way and most likely nutritious.

That's pretty fucking gnarly, but also probably nutritious. I wonder how hungry we would have to get to look past these things.
