I wish I could find the comment chain I saw the other day that began with some guy using their instead of they're, then someone replied with "they're*", then someone else wrote a long reply about how there were other things wrong with the sentence or something, but he didn't even use correct grammar in his post himself. He used semicolons where commas should have been (which is an extra funny mistake because he was obviously trying to use semicolons to sound smart without knowing what they're for), then someone else replied correcting him on that and semicolon guy was like "Oh, thanks!" It was pretty much the perfect microcosm of Reddit.

Nah I think the average Reddit poster is genuinely dumber than the average 4chan poster. That old image that described Redditors as "dumb people acting smart" and 4channers as "smart people acting dumb" is still kinda accurate, except 4channers did get dumber. Still not as dumb as redditors though. Most of the retardation here is concentrated to a couple boards too.

I don't think redditors are even more intelligent on average; they just type and infodump in a way that seems smart to midwits. I rarely see novel analyses on Reddit like I sometimes do on 4chan.
