Binge drinking here.

I can't slow myself down and typically drink faster than other people. Do it with food. Also know it comes from childhood trauma.

Typically I have to fight the thirst or take smaller sips instead of gulps

I never got the appeal of alcohol and I haven't drank in 5 years. Every time I get drunk my bloodlust goes nuts and can't stop thinking about comiting atrocities . I stoped drinking the night I looked at a pretty girl, she looked back at me and smiled and the first thing that popped into my mind was flaying her face off

I haven't drank in a week as last Sunday I fell really hard on a concrete barrier or something and passed out, woke up up and apparently smashed my large glass kombucha bottle and could have accidently sliced myself and could have bleed out or needed stitches. Banged my head as well on the side. I learned my lesson and will not drink anymore. I may have 1(one) social drink but I can't allow myself to ever get drunk or especially binge 3-4 days ever again. Please drink responsibility anons.

When I was in my youth I remember that I was out drinking over the night and got some fast food garbage at the end because of the hunger.
At some point I've lost the desire to eat and at my worst I would not eat for 2 weeks casually before going to detox once a month and came out with 80kg.. I'm 1,93M and came even as low as 70kg.

I never had alcohol problems but I was addicted to benzos and used to drink a bit while I used them. I suspect quitting alcohol is similar to benzos. I tapered off and then quit cold turkey once I felt that was safe. Long daily walks without electronics helped enormously.

I hate the fear that happens after a binge. The amount of physical damage booze causes is insane. Iโ€™m drying out now and quitting smoking. As long as I donโ€™t buy it and have it at home I canโ€™t drink it, just need to resist the inevitable voice that comes after a period of sobriety that says itโ€™s OK to drink and nothing bad will happen. Tried AA but itโ€™s not for me.

Cannabis has a great area how it works for you but I would not recommend it if you drink because of some psychological problems. And want to replace it with it.
It will fuck up your psyche.
I've tried the same since I'm close to the Dutch border and can buy the best stuff there but naah absolutely not for me.
15 years ago I was smoking every day and had no problems whatsoever and it was good but now it kills your brain or more like mine.

I used to drink 3 shots of vodka, then 2-3 light beers every evening like clockwork. I would eat my last meal around 5 pm and wouldn't get home till midnight sometimes, so I would get real wasted each night efficiently. That would be the most I would drink, most nights maybe two shots and one beer.
I'd argue, if you can break off for a while, then keep yourself to something like a bottle of Barefoot wine a day, drinking on an empty stomach at the end of the day, you will maximize the joy of alcohol while minimizing the metabolic and mental wear. $150 per month habit.
Also in my opinion, responsible drinking of wine, is approaching culinary practice. It is an excellent way to end the day, a kind of dessert for the mind if you need it, and a way to promote sleep in adult men. In the same way we need to stretch our legs and arms before exerting ourselves maximally, we need to stretch the mind once in a while from the dehumanizing disciplines of making this fake and gay civilization happen.

I would be completely open and tell exactly how it is.
If they're so religious then blame it on the devil pushing you in alcoholism and you want to change that's why you're saying it out loud now.
Lying is a big perk of alcoholism and it mostly stars with lying to yourself. "I could stop to drink if I really wanted" and it gets only worse from there.

i think anyone still on 4chan recreationally is probably not here by choice, and most of those people probably have nothing better to do than drink
this shit is like TV was for boomers at this point
the internet is not for enlightened people like it was for a long time
i sound gay though, whatever, nothing matters

true, i do think it is kinda absurd that, after having no dedicated drinking threads on this board, there are now two. maybe there is a collective site consciousness allowing this phenomenon.

my mom also, coincidentally, brought home a bottle of tequila she was gifted after we had already bought a bottle of wine from the store. i wonder if it has anything to do with the lunar cycle.

maybe yeah
i really had no idea how much people drink, and i figured it was very much on the decline after millenials
but it seems like you're lucky if you come out of your freshman year of highschool without a fucking alcohol habit, even now
not that i'm better than anyone, i'm mostly just lucky
it's just crazy

The problem is short-term alcohol can fix so many problems and really help but long-term it fucks you up and you must be drunk to feel slightly human.
If you go over the point to get addicted then you mostly drink to get away from detox syndromes. It takes over everything.

it seems like it
i watched that happen to my childhood friend in real-time
he works at a bolt factory
it seems like the alcohol genuinely helps him cope with the anxiety and act more rationally, but he also wrecked his car twice, broke a $10,000 piece of equipment at work, etc
seems like it causes more stress in the long run from bad decisions

my dad vodkamaxxed & then quit, but i was too young to really understand what was happening, and he was kinda distant at that age
he has permanent heartburn & has to take PPIs with psychological side effects
seems like alcohol bad

Possible for some people but it doesn't works for hard alcoholics.
I've tried it after my last Reha only drinking 1 time a week and yes it worked for around 2 years but then ended like it was before.
The detox is not even the hard part because you know that it has an end but being a soulless shell of your former self why even life anymore that's the real hard part.

Booze helped my fucked up head but the depression was so bad the next day. So half a bottle o wine a night was the right amount. downing a painkillers or Valium with a couple scotches made shit good. I never had enough tabs at one time to neck myself. Doctors would always be stingy. I used to have like 20 valiums but not enough to kill. I didnโ€™t want to wait up 3 days later with some brain damage.
