It's too late for that. I'm not pushing them away or ignoring them but when I have family dinner and board game night with them they feel like strangers now. If my friends have issues I still try to help. Honestly, everyone feels so distant now.

Don't be. I built up a lot of inner strength and you shouldn't let another's pain drag you down either. I just lost composure for a moment after watching an emotional anime that related to my situation.

The only thing I still desire though is understanding and respect. But these people will never understand me. That's why I am feeling so distant.

If they could now is not the time. Maybe in the future. All that considered however I wouldn't want to change a thing in my past. The crushing pain helped me a lot to find my inner light now. To be me and not give my ego onto another persons emotions, because I can't control how others feel.
