Jobless Software Engineers
What career pivot can we do?

IT has been totally destroyed by jeets. The whole AI hype train is just a ruse to cover it all up.

I was looking into accounting but seems like it's getting jeeted as well. Is that not the case? I figured no way people would allow some dirty pajeet nigger near their taxes but a lot of places bury it (Form 7216).

I’m breaking NDA and selling corporate secrets. But yeah, we’re cooked. I’m lucky to have a family member with a small business I’m working for.

Consulting. Literally just get paid to research, give advice, and build things occasionally. You’ll need to be a people person. You’ll get paid probably half of what a top swe pays but it’s a decent stable job.
>fell for the cs meme, graduated during covid, this fell on my lap and was better than nothing
Make about $120k a year and started at $70k 3 years ago. You’re not getting the $200k+ at any of the top companies but it’s not bad pay. If you become partner you can easily make $300k+. You can also try getting a job at a top firm like McKinsey which has a high barrier to entry but base pay is around $250k and then fat bonuses. If you end up making partner there you would be making $1M easily a year.
Of course this is all assuming you have social skills

How did you break into the field? I thought they hired mostly business majors instead of stem ones
Anonymous (ID: Rq6x40vC) No.60482878 [Report]
>>60482840
They hire all sorts of majors. Someone recommended to me the job posting and I thought what the heck, applied. and got a interview for it. I was in more of tech/cyber security consulting for a mid accounting firm and now am more of data science/engineering for energy companies and cyber security for banks. The interview isn’t really technical like they won’t make you take a test or anything no leetcode (unless you’re going for McKinsey which has theses business case tests) the interview is pretty much just them seeing if they like you and fit on the team.
I have some coworkers that worked at google and Microsoft but were laid off during those mass cuts a year or two ago and we picked them up and they seem to be doing well. Also have people from other stem back ground like petroleum engineering. I actually don’t think I know one person I work with that has a business degree.

When I was in Dallas it looked like Bangalore (same with Houston). That hot wheels governor is packing as many jeets as possible into Texas.

I work in tech at a bank and it's more common to hear Hindi than English being spoken now. Every lunch time huge tables with 20+ jeets eating together. Groups of 10+ jeets all cramming into the lift together. Even the cleaner is a jeet and blasts jeet music on her phone speaker while cleaning the toilets.

What even is this world, it didn't used to be like this.

I just started trying to become a crypto quant. And am going to try and make the shift to being a mechanic something manual that ai can't replace. While I still learn to code on the side

You guys should just try to do a trade or something like that manual. It can't be outsourced or replaced by ai. I don't fully know everything about the pay but it doesn't seem bad it's what I'm going to try to do

trades are fucked as well. It's good for short term but it's getting heavily pushed like computer science was since they know there is a shortage of skilled labor. You now have college grads going to trade school and eventually the demand will go down when more and more people go to trades. But at least you don't have Indians in trades

the solutions they come up with are so efficient that they replace their own jobs.

Anonymous (ID: 6MG+Epvi) No.60488319 [Report] >>60488347
>>60488277
Sure doesn't mean trades is the answer. You and a bunch of people are thinking this same thing, How many electricians, plumbers, and whatever else do you really need in a city. If you're going labor intensive might as well go the route where you make the most money in a short period like working on an oil rig or at the ports or on a ship. It's dangerous but you'll clear way more money than trades and you won't ever have to worry about competition since the majority of the population are pussies. IMO trades is getting pushed heavily since there is a shortage and that will be much easier to transfer over to since it is not hard to become a tradesman vs someone actually trying to become a swe.
If you don't want to do manual labor the only options you have is sales, retail sales, or food sales and you either work for someone else or you start your own thing.

Yea it's just feels like something that I can actually break into I actually need to get a job and move out. The competition is to much you are competing with cheap Indian contractors, ai that can pretty much do most entry level jobs, and any retarded that can download some bot and apply with slop ai resumes that are tuned for the job. It's like a lottery I'm just going to continue trying on the side but shift my attention else were if I knew something better I would just do that but I'm pretty much on the level where I might as well just join the army
Anonymous (ID: cB2it6f2) No.60488352 [Report]
>>60488343
Why wouldn't they? A lot of the time they hire contractors they aren't responsible for if they fuck up it just makes them look bad.

Tech consulting is a good pivot.
There is also so much potential for entrepreneurial pivots. software engineers can literally create *almost* anything with their skills & grinding. it would be incredibly efficient time & money-wise to create some type of specialized software or cloud-based service (throw in some ai features) and sell the license or subscription to consumers OR go the b2b route and target small-medium size businesses. most small businesses are technology illiterate so selling them any technology to save time/money to them would be brain-dead easy. too many software nerds just want to take some orders, sit alone for 8 hrs a day, and collect an easy salary. those days are over for your industry.

Having had a lot of different jobs over the years, the only thing that ends up mattering is that you're really good at your job no matter what it is. Too many overcredentialled wage chasers exist that ruin the idea of merit.
