I blame it on being too young. I was like 15 in 2011 and I had 1 btc someone gave me on /b/ but I bought a pc when it reached 1000, I had dozens of btc in the early days but I wasted them on shitcoins over the years and drugs. I was too young and immature, trying to be a trader bigshot. Only in the last few years at 30 can I make responsible investment decisions

That is a skill issue mate. I was only 2 years older than you in 2011. I mined a few and decided to just hold them. I really do believe in the hodl strategy. Held em from 2014 until 2024. Used them to buy my house. Some people really just aren't born to have money.

But you just sold. i.e. you don't actually believe in holding. If you did you would still have them.

I paid off my 6 figures student loans in 2018. I got a house and a car in 2021. I just quit my job and moving to Thailand literally tomorrow. I'm hoping we BTC and ETH moonshot over the next couple of years before I need to sell any crypto again.

I have some more, but yep. I spent my money on something I really wanted and will use for potentially the rest of my life. I don't feel bad about it.

This is why I hold everything, from the lowliest shitcoin on up. I will never be the one to tell the "I sold Turdcoin and it shot up 1000%" story. Me and my bags are married for life, its either abject poverty or lamboland, no in between.

funny how 10 btc was "little" back then
nowadays the little is 0.1 or something
I wonder if 0.1 will be that much in 10 years
only god can tell. 488h

Similar. I had 8 BTC in mid-2014. I have just over half of it left but lawd almighty I could have fucked off to SEA and retired if I hadn’t have sold a heap.

>>60482987
Already on Plebbit someone with >=1 BTC is referred to as a “wholecoiner”. There are people making threads on some subs about their pride in accumulating just 0.1 BTC as a big milestone.

I don't think this is true. Just because you believe holding Bitcoin is the best store of value doesn't mean you won't trade it for something you seriously need. But really that's the same with gold, stocks etc.

0.1 is significant for lots of people already because most are poor and 10k in savings is a lot for them

From my irl peers, the one with 0.5btc has the most, besides my undisclosed amount of course

Around the time he posted, 10 BTC was around 100-200 bucks.

By the same logic, it should be 0.001 to 0.002 BTC

damn so basically 0.1 is equivalent to 1000 btc 10 years ago? so in 10 years from now 0.1 btc will be worth millions ?
idk guys this sound too crazy to be true.

>bought 50 btc @ $20 a pop at mt gox in 2011
>could have bought more if I only timed the market right, like 10x more
>proceed to blow the majority of it on drugs on Silk Road to this day only have 3.5 btc on my wallet

btc was my chance and I squandered it now my only chance is if btc goes to a million per which I seriously doubt

the gains from back then to now will never be seen again thanks to power law
also people still think there's no risk in btc, the main risk going into the future is technological disruption, be that quantum computers breaking everything, something better than btc emerging, the concept of money disappearing in the singularity, etc. nothing is guaranteed

Oh you know, the usual: Bought a house I don’t live in, paid off debt I no longer remember taking, stared at charts even though I don’t need more money. Really living the dream.
Mostly just rot in my gaming chair now, pretending Rock Paper and Goatsors is somehow productive because it’s “on-chain” and “maybe pays out.”
It’s not. But it beats staring at the fifth kitchen faucet I ordered out of boredom.
We all thought being rich would feel different. Turns out you still wake up tired and hate everyone, just in a nicer zip code.
