How much are you guys paying in rent?
Are you content with it or is it eating you up with how expensive it is?
Do you plan on moving?

Damn really? What's your ideal percentage? Do you regret because you would rather dump it all into your brokerage? That's actually the exact amount of rent I'm looking at.

1500 USD a month splitting a house with a few friends and my gf in a nice Californian suburb. My income post-tax, post-401k max, and post-HSA max is 8k a month. Half goes into S&P500 index, about a quarter goes to bills, and I split the remainder between groceries and spending money. It’s pretty comfy ngl, and I’ll be able to start living off 4% in around a decade.

>How much are you guys paying in rent?
1700/mo with rent control since I've lived here for years. If I just moved in I'd be paying about 2300/mo
>Are you content with it or is it eating you up with how expensive it is?
It feels expensive, but it's not that bad for what I get.
1000sqft, 2bedrooms+ 1 den, 2 bathrooms, in-suite laundry, no roommate, and a hundred different restaurants nearby I can order food from.
Main thing that sucks is sharing walls and loud upstairs neighbors occasionally.
My take home is 6.1k/month after 4% retirement matching and tax deductions, so 27% going to rent isn't too bad.
>Do you plan on moving?
I would like to live more on the edge of the city on a large piece of land, with a long driveway away from the noise.
Put down some solar panels to keep my month-to-month expenses down and be independent from the grid going down.
Financially it's so expensive to find anything like that. A detached house alone starts at 800k, and anything like that is more like $1.5m+.
Even with a 200k down payment, max I can afford for my income is 665k
Realistically I don't need the space, I haven't had a gf in years, and I'd rather be retired and live in an apartment than wage another 10-20 years to afford an overpriced house.

I own 2 houses but am on a work contract in another city so am renting. It is just too much money to have my own place + power + internet, so I rent a room from a house owner and they pay all bills. It sucks to be honest, tip-toeing around in someone's house, but financially it is the only reasonable way.

Because she has the perfect combination of cute and beautiful. The type where she most likely isnt aware over just how toptier she looks. This combined with the fact that she looks smart, is a combination which is close to fucking impossible to find in women. You have to choose two : attractive, smart, enotionally stable. Ive been in three serious relationships and dated some. I have never found a woman with all three qualities. This woman is the epitome of women. She is the holy grail. She is the trinity every man searches for. She is the reason the kings of old waged war

I don’t want a mortgage bros. However, with the acceleration of dollar devaluation and purposeful destruction w covid and everything coming, wouldn’t it be wise to get a mortgage in goybucks? They haven’t changed the terms of a mortgage where you could possibly be forced to pay back in something other than dollarinos, like whatever Jewish central bank currency they come up with, could they?

suck it up and find a place with roommates.
It's honestly better if you don't mind sharing a fridge, and limiting vices to socially acceptable levels. Probably better for overall well-being.
I don't want to do it personally. 10 years without roommates now and while I've gone a little Taxi Driver, I don't want to go back.

yeah, I guess so. I just don't know how I'm supposed to find a roommate when I don't have any friends, or really any acquaintances at all
>It's honestly better if you don't mind sharing a fridge
I think I kind of hate this. Part of why I hate living with others is I have some sort of complex about being perceived idk, I don't like people looking at me, knowing what I'm doing, what I eat, when I eat, observing my activity. I know it's retarded but it's honestly been pretty bad for my whole life and has made things like school harder
>and limiting vices to socially acceptable levels
my only real problem is alcohol but I think I can curb it well enough to not appear awfully drunk when talking to people

I just bought a house. My options were to continue living with my parents which was driving me insane and killing my social/dating life or just suck it up and take the risk. The mortgage is over half of my monthly net but I should be able to rent one or two bedrooms out easily, which would free up money to rebuild my savings and continue contributing to my IRA.

Buying right now is a risk but so is waiting. I’d rather just get it over with and refinance later if the opportunity comes up.

Paying $1.5k for a studio that smells like the previous tenant's depression. At this point, my landlord extracts more value from me than most shitcoins do from their investors. Could I move somewhere cheaper? Sure, but then I’d have to live in a place where the nearest "bull market" is just actual livestock.

The real kicker? Half my rent could’ve been a life-changing Kaka bag last cycle. Instead, I get the privilege of listening to my upstairs neighbor’s nightly MMA training sessions. Still, it’s better than my buddy who "saved money" by moving to Ohio, now he’s stuck explaining what a memecoin is to people who think Bitcoin’s still a scam.

Only escape plan is either a) a 100x shitcoin miracle, or b) becoming one of those van-life degens who trade crypto at Starbucks. Until then, I cope by reminding myself that at least my rent receipts are more consistent than my altcoin portfolio.

I'm 29 and I'll start studying /Lit/ at uni for free, I'll stay poor, spend no money, read a lot of good books and maybe work a bit here and there to buy some BTC. Life is good when you have a view.
