how feasible would it be to get established in australia as a foreign young male from basically nothing? basically i want to get a passport and citizenship or at least a work visa of some kind, fly over there and start trying to work my way up to owning some land with full mineral/surface rights. the quality of said land is unimportant, actually i'd prefer it to not have any real value so the mining industry doesn't come after me. i'll decide specifically what type of business i want to make after i get closer to having the ability to purchase land.

ideally i'd like to have some type of manufacturing and/or material processing business but things change and so does my mind.

ive been trying to get a job for way too long, even minimum wage would be fine by me but unfortunately i don't have a formal education or people who can support me so thats not happening. i'm looking to sell everything i have (~70-900 usd) and move to another country. despite the gun laws, i'm thinking autralia is somehow the best pick. lemme know if you know a better place.

i'm not expecting this to be easy, or even reasonable. i'm willing to put in the effort. i literally have no education or credentials; no work experience either. how difficult would finding someone with work for me be? and how hard would it be to find a temporary place to live either for free or on loan be?

learn a trade, learn it while you’re here or when you go. People there will also need plumbing fixed, houses framed, cars repaired. I suggest starting in a more rural part of the country where folks are gonna wanna be helped out instead of you needing schooling for industry standards. Possibly cheaper housing as well.

well, why don't people pay for houses to be built themselves? here at least the government never builds or funds practical new infrastructure unless people are literally dying in its absence (not a surefire metric, needs some pressure in addition) or there are some rich people that want it there. the anti-homeless stuff in nyc wasn't something demanded by the people living there and costed quite a lot of tax money. the only exceptions they make are for intragovernmental use. my local mayor's office is a combined police station and a few other things; man is that a nice building. too bad main street was closed down >5 years while they built it and upgrades to other government buildings. not a dime has been spent on building houses for regular people in my state afaik.

building a house isn't exactly a monumental task; you need a specialized lawer on staff to deal with all the bs and arbitrary codes/regulations but other than that its pretty straightforward. not easy, but its something that can be broken down into smaller tasks reliably.

you can come and peg some tenements on vacant/ unallocated crown land (effectively all land in this cunt is owned by the crown/ government and we lease it from them). Prospecting is the easiest, you can have it for 4 years and then extend it for 4 years. In that time you will need to meet expenditure requirements based on the size of the tenement. If after the 8 years you can prove that there is some form of mineral resource there you can convert it to an exploration tenement which lasts 5 years with a 5 year extension and then a 2 year extension. Exploration is much greater for Exploration tenements. Then comes Mining tenements, 21 years no extension rules, however expenditure is significant. You could purchase an existing mining tenement. There are shitloads. This only gives you the rights to mineral exploration and production. You do not have rights to anything on the surface e.g., you can't harvest timber or anything else. Only the minerals.

*expenditure is much greater for exploration tenements.
Proper true freehold land exists in WA and other parts. Some of the WA freehold was issued pre 1899 and gives the owner mineral and surface rights e.g., timber and all other things. There is no royalty payable for 'royal' metals. This land is typically not for sale or if it is will be fucking expensive.

well, i was thinking if i worked at my local minimum wage equivalent (7.25 usd/hr) for 10 years, 8 hours a day and spent less than or equal to 20 usd a day on daily necessities i would have the equivalent of 138k saved up. i'd also try and get side jobs to buy/rent a house. possibly find someone willing to let me crash at their place in exchange for doing chores or something. but if having both surface and mineral rights are so elusive i don't think that'd be feasible.

You also don't know how fucked things are in Australia for the people that don't come from a well off family or on their own. The time when you could just come in and set yourself up by walking into a factory and giving the boss a firm handshake was decades ago, there is very little opportunity in the current day for someone starting out.

Pretty sure these people come from money, they all do. They're like the "failed" child of the family who moves overseas to give an appearance of them doing something with their lives, but it's all secretly being funded by their peoples who are too ashamed to admit it.

Actual Australian here. I’d say you’re better off staying over there. If you’re struggling to make a living in the USA, life here is gonna kick your ass.

Somewhat high effort trolling, thought you were legitimate up until this.

>I see retards from all over the globe trying to get into Australia like its some sort of paradise that will solve all of their life problems. ... What the fuck??

I live in Flyover Country and I want to move to Western Australia because I see it as the last nice place that isn't already completely built out.

Yes, the prices are high, but there's still lots of room to grow. Even if you look at just the southwest part, that's 2.9M people in an area 3x the size of Ohio (population 11.9M). Triple the size with 1/4 the population.

I recently did a geneology of my family back to Europe, and at some point they just decided to plunk down by the great lakes and stopped moving westward, and now it's impossible to get into the west coast. I want to be the person who shakes it up for my line.

They do, it just costs 5 times as much as in every other country because Australia is in the middle of nowhere

You either need to be a tradie, willing to be a FIFO miner, or already have a shitload of money. Country is basically fucked.
