Is $270k a lot of money? Feels like that amount can't even buy a dog house in NY.

Why are you trying to compete with dirty money foreign dictators for real estate? You'll never be able to compete with them.

It's a lot or a little depending on what you want to do with it.

Want to use it to live on for a few years to figure out your next moves or get some experience/education in a new field? Yes, it's a lot.

Want to reinvest it? Yes, it's a good starting point.

Want to live in a shitbox in a red state with a high murder rate? Yes, it's a lot of money.

Want to live in Thailand and destroy ladyboy bussy 6 days a week? Yes it's a lot of money

Want to be cozy in a nice part of the US? It's enough to get you in the door but you'll have to hustle to make sure that when it runs out you have enough cash flow to keep living there.

Want to retire early? No, it's not a lot. You need closer to 2 million to retire early comfortably in the US and still closer to a million to retire early and live overseas in a LCOL country.

* note: 300k won't last you indefinitely there though, you'll just be living large for a few years unless you snag a remote job and ration out your spending accordingly.

Think of it this way, you can safely turn 300k into about 1k usd per month without touching the principal. What can you do with 1k a month?

The key word was comfortably. I think 80k a year (4% of 2 mill) is enough to live a middle class life most places in the US while still leaving enough upside to even raise a child if you wanted.

Lower than that you're making some serious sacrifices in terms of location/safety and ability to date, marry and raise children.

If you're comfortable living in Mississippi and spending most of your time doing low cost activities then you can survive on more like 40k a year, sure.

You could even go lower if you don't mind living in a decrepit and unclean environment or living on rice and beans.

I think the better choice would be to half-retire at that point though, and just supplement your income.

What I was saying with the 2 mil is, enough where you don't have to work and can live a decent quality of life in the USA most places.

80k/yr passive income is not enough to retire. your expenses will rise as you age.
it is, however, enough to get a degree of freedom but you still want to work.

Let's be real chat: would you spend 250k dollars (+ tip) on renting this bitch for 1 year? Here's the caveat: only hugs and handholding allowed. She doesn't kiss, absolutely won't have sex with you, and will never catch feelings for you. It's pure, undiluted, transactional companionship+gf play. Would you still accept?

Oh yeah I forgot, silly me. She is an aspiring actress. If she makes it big, she will have more intimacy with male coworkers (including kisses and sex scenes) than she will ever have with (You).
WOULD
