Software engineer here formerly employed as an engineering manager and a technical architect. I know a guy who got on disability at 18. Never worked a job. Dedicated hasan viewer, full on commie.
He lives in subsidized housing only paying $300/mo for his own apartment. Gets a free 1.3k/mo that just goes to electricity/food/internet/phone, can't keep more than a few thousand in a bank account without it getting clawed back.
He walks everywhere, is healthier than most people, takes public transit, has a gaming pc and pirates everything, and sends money to camgirls in 3rd world countries.

The more I think about it, the more fucked up it is.

We need to bring back poor houses where you get people sharing bedrooms, and stop giving so much tax money to them, give that tax money back to workers, and opening up decent real estate to people that work.
It should be unacceptable for NEETs living off tax dollars to have their own space with housing as expensive as it is. If they own they should have to sell. If they can't afford rent, they should have to move to a poor house and share a bedroom.

Weirdly, the more my circumstances constrained me (wfh job, wife, mortgage, kid) the more passionate I became about my free time: reading, exercising, gardening, woodworking, home maintenance, some freelance digital stuff, weekly illustration course, etc.

I recently quit the career I've had for 10 years and moved to Thailand. I plan on staying for at least a year. So far it's really nice not having to hear an alarm in the morning but my body is still stuck in wagie mode so I'm up by 6 am anyway.
