I'm not a lawyer, but I think if you were legitimate law enforcement, you would need probable cause or a warrant to go get information from the 4chan servers. If someone willingly went to a link you provided, then it would shortcut that. Of course, there have never been bad-acting 3rd party think tanks or NGOs, right? Imagine such a thing.
