my rural hometown has 3 dollar stores in a 1 mile radius plus 1 new "DG Market" dollar grocery store. it's over. we'll be a 3rd world country by 2030.

That’s pretty insane to me. I haven’t been in one in over a decade and even back then they were laughably bad. Poor people, specifically those in either rural meth towns or those in the hoods of urban cities. The people shopping here likely don't live close enough to a walmart and/or have the money to pay the up front cost of a box that would technically save them money since it would be lower cost per item in said box, aka the boots theory.
