I'm unironically 40. I've been in startups for like 15 years. I now make decent money but after having kids stopped aggressively trying to climb and I haven't learned any new skills in 7 years and am in a totally dead end position at a dead end company. My last several gigs including this one I report directly to the CEO, so no upward mobility available, minimal wage increases.

I do wfh which is great, and I make roughly $200k which in this job market I'd probably have trouble finding elsewhere given I'm generally in operations & management and those jobs don't tend to hire higher up positions externally.

I am a stinky linky since 2017, have like 50k stinks. Have maybe $100k in other crypto. Have $500k equity in my home.

Honestly I fucking hate my "career" trajectory. If I was independently wealthy right now I'd probably just stop working for a while and figure out what my next move is, but I have often thought I'd go back to school and become a psychologist. I used to think I wanted to run my own business but I've seen too many business owners grind themselves to death, that's not really where I want to get stuck either.

My living expenses all in are roughly $150k/year (remember I have a family, also bought too much house which I will admit was a mistake). Do I just like sell half my crypto to give myself time to try to get my shit together or keep sucking it up hoping for le moon mission that hasn't come for 8 years?

I'm tired, bros.

there's no point selling any of your link at the current price. Link will go up at some point in the next few years. Idk if it's $60 or $200 but it will go somewhere. If you're not already staking max out a wallet or two next time the pool opens, then sell a portion. Between what you sell and what you make through staking that should at least relieve some pressure and maybe you can cut down to part time or quit. 50k link is huge by today's standards. You're not that far off making it.

I basically did your option 2. except I didn't sell my crypto but have cash and a decent boomer folio.

Waiting for the moon mission at this point is not a thing for me anymore, I believe Sergey and the team have mislead and lied to us, I can't live on their timeline anymore.
At the end of the day, they don’t owe us anything. There’s no fiduciary duty, and that’s become painfully clear.

You're doing great and at your trajectory doing what you do with a sustainable pace you're looking at a somewhat early retirement depending on where you live.

Take it easy and good job anon. I'm happy for you. You played the game smart and slow and now you're in a better position than 99 percent of fuckheads here.
You may never hit the 1% which got filthy rich by luck, but you don't really need to.

I don’t care about paper promises, ironic given Chainlink’s supposed mission. The truth is, we have no voting rights, no dividends, no financial disclosures, no say in governance, and none of the legal protections actual securities investors receive. And they’ve been very careful to avoid anything that might be interpreted otherwise.

We’re just along for the ride, expected to stay quiet and hope it all works out while the team operates on their own timeline, free from any real accountability.

These are the dead cold facts, we all knew about that though and still decided to get in.

Indeed my fellow OG ICO Chainlinkers, I also am fearful, uncertain and doubtful of my investment and I will be shortly heading to unstake all my 7 fully staked 15K LINK wallets and proceed to run to the Binance cryptocurrency exchange to market sell all of my never traded Chainlink (ticker: LINK) tokens because I've made such a bad investment and I urge every other OG ICO Chainlink (ticker: LINK) investor to do the same because I, an anonymous poster, care deeply about your financial well-being.

We've all held for so long, but in all honesty it's time to stop the cope and just market unstake and sell our Chainlink (ticker: LINK) tokens immediately. I'm just so tired. You tired too? Let's unstake and sell together

Did you actually hold link that whole time without selling ANY?

Also do you have stocks/401k or are your total investment assets just the 50k stinkies and 100k in other crypto?

Even as a huge Chainlink bull myself, if you don’t have any stocks you seem overallocated to Chainlink and should at least consider moving some to a safe global stock etf or something, those profits are too big even at 14 dollars to keep risking like that if you have kids and no stock market exposure. But I would keep some link, maybe 20k.

And now I'm not even sure I'd really want that anyway. Anything I'd do would just be another needless tech company. I want to be a force of good in the world.

I try not to diminish the problems of others because at the end of the day we all have our problems, some are definitely bigger than others, but that doesn't mean it feels less big. Suck it up and buy crypto for a few more years and then do what you want when utility takes off. This is a moment you can't redo. Diversify into solid utility projects actually being used and not just doing marketing. Look at companies and banks actually inking deals, ETF choices for tokens, NASDAQ/CME benchmark indexing of tokens, ones Circle launches on, tokens named by ONDO, companies on the standards bodies committees and working groups and central banks payments committees, government contrracts, etc. Cross-reference these and but across confident overlaps. It is literally this easy. There will probably be an uber-crash and we are probably analogously just before the Dotcom moment but we are still early enough and developed enough to buy the obvious Apples/Microsofts/Amazons while they are priced like startups. Won't get a second chance and these moments are RARE and network usage is growing faster than internet 1.0 did.

Okay, drop a burner email. I am currently working on building a forum around discourse (heh, that's why the backend tech is called discourse) on building Web3 projects that your mom would use.

I went to ETH Denver and it made me realize just how destructive memecoins are and this is with people who believe in crypto. I can hardly imagine how bad it is with Solana's ecosystem and other projects.

Right now, the current project I'm working on with a buddy is trying to use turn tips into lottery tickets on PoolTogether with CCIP. A simple enough concept to justify trying to rob people out of more money (fuck tipping tbqh), that will actually generate more Web3 usage. I want to build more projects like this that have practical value for the common man.

I've come to acceptance that Chainlink has pretty much given up on the permissionless side thanks to the complete obliteration of trust from Bancor, Celsius Network, and the rest of the degenerate overleveraged protocol explosions of 2020/2021 or whenever it happened. They still want people to use Functions meaningfully but these hackathons, so many people have neat ideas, they start something and they abandon it afterwards. I'm not gonna finish my current project in time for this current Hackathon of Chainlink but it's going to be feature for a future project I'm working on so I'll keep at it.
