Has anybody had success with daily or weekly trading options? Which setups work the best?

This is literally no different than sports betting.

That being said long straddles on crypto can be profitable.

A sold option hasva 60% chance of expiring worthless. You can make money on that but its not huge money relative to your account value. You can get an extra couple percent with conservative options trading.

Don't ask retards here for trading advice, find someone who has had actual success (i.e., not a grifter) and learn from them.

Yes, but I've also lost a lot. It's just gambling.

You can make income selling covered calls and cash secured puts, otherwise, don't bother.

these two strategies are better than buying options. but if you need the rush, you're better off sports betting.

Ive been successfully options trading for years and the only things that have worked for me is buying calls that are LEAPS so I have plenty of time to be early in my bets. Ive net lost money on puts and shorter dated calls, up probably net thousands of percent on LEAPs. Good luck

Covered calls don't pay much unless the undelivered asset is pretty volatile, and if the strat is low risk, doesn't it defeat the purpose? Unless you have a sizeable capital that allows you to go for crabbing stocks, but then there are better alternatives for periodic income aren't there? I will look more into it tho. Cash secured puts are more risky aren't they? You can lose a lot very quickly I feel like

Those must have an insane premium

I saw some option scalping videos on jewtube with people making money, and I feel like it's not a pipe dream but you need experience, balls and discipline to pull them off. It's also pretty tiring to do that everyday i'd guess, so covered calls sit better with me in theory.
In practice, to cover a call you need an amount of money that makes the premium about 3-4% of the whole thing if not less. So unless you have a stock that has less monthly volatility than that, it's hardly justifiable to choose this strat... am I wrong?
Getting 1k monthly requires at least 20k in a stock if not more

I make about 0.5% a week selling options on mid-high IV, short expiry (2-3 weeks) stocks like MSTR, PLTR, btc efts, etc. on an inherited IRA account that has ~$500k in it. I take most of the premium out to cover my RMD and for living expenses and reinvest the rest. It is steady money for the most part and last year I made $170k including the profits from selling assigned stock and debits from rolling or buying to close bad sells (before taxes). The risks are getting assigned to a sold put on a big dip or a call on a big pump, in which case you either can lose quite a bit or not make as much profit as if you just held the stock, respectively. In times of uncertainty, like now, I either will settle for less premium, expect to have to roll some of my contracts if they really go south or I’ll sell only week out. This works best when things are slowly moving up or down and even more volatile stocks are kinda predictable. I have a couple metrics that I look at the decide strike price but it’s really like 60/40 analysis to gut instinct, if you do it for a while you will get a feel for it. Oh, and I am MUCH more conservative when selling puts. You can actually get fucked here and end up bagholding for weeks or months, which I have, so be careful.

I probably lack margin to sell options consistently and a single loss would fuck me up badly I feel. I get why you do it but I lack the capital to follow your approach. Valid insight anyway, thanks

Obviously the more capital you have, the more leeway you can give yourself with position sizing and risk tolerance. My worst loss has been around $20k which all things considered is not that bad but it did sting a bit. If your account is less than 6 figs you’ll probably get more bang for your buck buying options but you run the risk of losing 100% of the premium. I have’t done it but there is a way to sell covered calls against LEAPS which is kinda medium risk and can be really profitable because itm LEAPS are pretty much as good as holding shares but are like 1/3 of the price

Most of the successful wouldn't bother to teach anyone shit, and most of the "successful traders" who says they're successful are actually not, otherwise they wouldn't bother sell their branding.

this board is braindead when it comes to options, this dude doesn't even understand delta. There is no real edge with options, you are better off investing in assets and building a portfolio for long-term investing instead and using options around your portfolio as they were intended for protection or leverage.

It’s just leverage. That’s it. Stop trying to make a “strategy”. Bullish on a stock? Buy calls a quarter out and hope your edge is real. That’s it.
