>"Oh look you've got 400k? That's it?">how the fuck is it not a lot anymore? It was a lot in 2019, but we've time travelled forward so it feels like only 2-3 years have passed since then when it's been actually 6 years, and it doesn't help that inflation and money printing was even worse.
There's also social media shaping their reality, zoomers especially got one-shot by this, they think they need 600k/yr minimum salary and 9m net worth to be financially successful.
Hearing women talk about salary expectations of what they want their husband to earn is a good peek of what's going on, you hear outrageous numbers like 200k/yr, 600k/yr, 7figs/yr, all from the most mid women. Their view of reality is completely warped, like they've been trained to expect and demand only the top 0.01% of men, anything less is unacceptable. Long gone are the days of women being impressed because you own a car and work a stable job.
>>60517338>when did everyone else get all this money? And how? I had to grind like a maniacAs others said, two incomes in some big cities can added up to more than 400k/yr for skilled workers. Most of it gets raped by taxes, but overall 400k is not a lot for some people in some areas. Lots of people end up with more by getting lucky early on a startup and selling out. Or working a high paid remote job but living in a low cost of living area and saving a ton. Or just being a dentist, or doctor, or lawyer, but those may take another a few years before they outpace you.
400k at 29 is still decent though, 94% percentile for ages 25-29, 86% percentile for 30-34, but not insane. Very good for midwest, you should feel some sense of accomplishment because it's not easy. Stick with it and invest and it will grow to millions. It still won't impress women, but you'll be able to retire comfortably early.
