Do a bit of biz and legal basic knowledge, get a cert if you absolutely want, and invest heavily into nepotism.
Learn negotiation, like quid pro quo, demands into needs, open to closed drill down, and persuasion.

given the current state of AI I wouldn't recommend anyone go to law school. 90% of lawyers will be out of a job in 5 to 7 years.

make as much money as you can while you can, the gravy train is ending and soon.

anon you sound like a retard.

how is an "AI" going to read opposing counsel, determine whether or not they have actionable evidence, and understand whether or not pushing for settlement vs. trial is prudent? how is an "AI" going to conduct a deposition or cross examine a witness?

does an "AI" have a working relationship with prosecutors and judges? do you understand how law is practiced in real life?

imagine you're getting divorced. are you going to entrust 50% of your net worth and the custody of your children to an AI lawyer?

imagine you're facing criminal charges. are you going to risk a 10 year sentence in state/federal prison by trusting an AI lawyer?

what about trusts and wills. are you going to trust that the AI didn't hallucinate some nonsense that bequeaths your bitcoin fortune to the NAACP?

>who would you rather trust a corrupt lawyer or AI?

yes people will, and I don't know why that's hard to believe. People aren't retarded, they already trust AI more than doctors and lawyers. That's not something I made up, that's the result of extensive research by VC firms before investing tens of billions of dollars into making the products.

good luck, you're going to need it.

You're not going to have the skills to practice successfully on your own immediately after you come out of law school. You will have to spend several years toiling away for someone else, whether it be the government or as an associate at a private practice, before you can go out on your own.

Also standard advice about law school: Don't bother unless you get into a T14 school. There are plenty of people who take out $250k in student loan debt for their law degree from a middling state school only to end up with a 60hr/wk $80k/yr job at an insurance company offering settlements (or, worse, demanding settlements from insurance firms)

everyone says this yet every year freshly graduated lawyers hang a shingle and go out on their own. they aren't sued into oblivion for malpractice, they aren't summarily disbarred, they aren't tarred and feathered and exiled.

i want to do solo general practice in my rural hometown. i don't care about working big law or working at an existing firm. i currently have a corporate job. i don't want another corporate job. i worked at a professional services firm before. i don't want to work at another professional services firm.

Well the simple fact you can’t even capitalize the first word of your sentences means I would never hire you because you’re a fucking retard. Seems like you should be happy to be in such a cushy position as making $120k wfh since you’re a braindead nigger that lucked into the position, and on top of that you’re probably larping.

For what it’s worth, I was tempted to open my own law firm right out of law school, but I got in with a well respected firm in a smaller city and I am really glad I did. There is a lot to running a law firm and they teach none of it in law school. It is nice to just be able to grind as an associate for a few years and learn your practice areas without having to worry about getting bills paid and management. The T14 advice is normally good but I would say if you can get a good scholarship it can be at least not a terrible financial decision. Study hard for the LSAT so hopefully you can get a full ride somewhere. The money won’t be great, but I like litigation because it is like a strategy game. It’s different every day and can be fun if you like research, analysis, and writing. Watch some videos by bcg attorney search on YouTube. He is a wealth of knowledge about the practical part of the legal world. Best wishes.

you forgot to capitalize "WFH." it's an initialism and it should be capitalized. i would never hire a brain-dead nigger like yourself. also note that the word is "brain-dead" or "brain dead," and that "braindead" is not a valid word, you stupid subhuman nigger ape.

no, i am not larping. i work in corporate accounting at $100B/year+ company.

When AI gets this good, nothing will matter, so he might as well go to law school if he wants in the meantime, since we don't know when AI will actually get that good, doesn't make sense to just sit around doing nothing, waiting.

thanks for the advice. i like the idea of working at a small firm for a few years. i think my plan is to scholarshipmaxx at a lower ranked school local school, or do one of the ABA accredited online hybrid programs so i can work full time while going to school.

This is correct. I got nearly a full ride at a T10 and things have been dandy

Basically every retard without a useful undergrad degree comes to think this and it's the wrong question. "I don't know what to do with my life, maybe I'll go back to academia with an automatically provided structure, goal and clear sense of purpose to emerge on the end with better education and more prestige" is a super common trope

my goal isn't aimless and i'm not unaccomplished. i'm a manager level CPA who works in financial reporting at a massive corporation. my goal is to find work in a career that facilitates the ability to make a good living working for myself in a rural area. there is in fact some overlap with what i currently do and transactional law, to the extent that i was in a call yesterday morning with VP level corporate counsel. so it's not like i'm going into this completely blind as an unaccomplished, directionless loser.

i'm also considering this but i don't have any experience with tax. i would somehow need to teach myself tax or learn tax. from a work-life balance perspective, tax has significant downsides relative to law. january through april (plus any extensions that roll over to october) is an absolute fucking grind every single year without relent, without exception.

I’ve never worked for myself, but isn’t work from home just as good? You can still live wherever you want and your not solely responsible for the business
CPA is such a good qualification I think a law degree is a lateral move
Also just so you know I just have a bachelors in Economics and make more than you, but have to go into office a few times a week

no because they could absorb my work into the work of another financial reporting team, and remote jobs are getting rarer by the day.

One major problem from someone who had been doing law. The paperwork doesn’t print itself. You also have to collect the signatures, the authorization forms and speak with the other agent who will request the documents to confirm the signatures and authorization.

AI is too stupid to follow basic principles of law. It can not sign signatures for it’s not a legitimate in any country. AI cannot speak with the agency for authorization and consent.
