Start by being grateful your debt is tiny. Just work it off, it’s actually feasible. Some people go into debt for hundreds of thousands.

you get a job and beg a friend to sleep in their living room floor until you have enough saved up so you can live out of your car. bonus points if your job lets you park there overnight so you never have to worry about parking

5k in debt is nothing at that age dude
I’m pushing 40 and I used to be paranoid about taking on debt
Like obviously you don’t want to be drowning in it, but it’s a useful tool to have more spending power so you can change your life and hopefully have more earning power in the future
Sincere is advice is pick a trade, start a small business, or move somewhere with more opportunity
Don’t worry so much about having some debt at your age

Work a job? The issue with that is if you really do live in the middle of nowhere, you may not have access to where you want to be.

Assuming you're stateside, a short contract with the chair force will get you in a way more stable situation.

That’s actually not a bad start. You can pay that off in about 6 months to a year working a decent job and still having a social life. If you no life it and work 2-3 jobs (if overtime isn’t an option) you will have it sooner obviously. Wait tables on the weekends. Work something with discount benefits like Lowe’s. Then try to put in for good paying jobs like Amazon or whatever if there’s no age limits. Don’t date! Live in your car. Watch YouTube videos and see how people manage it. If you don’t own a car then use ChatGPT to find homeless shelters and food kitchens near you. You’re going to learn the hard way and have a greater appreciation for life and at like 30 you will legit be better off than most the world. The trick in the long term is don’t knock up some crazy whore and don’t be a dumbass and get divorced because you can’t manage your dick. Good luck anon!
