Maybe I should be more specific, i think AI powered robots will be the next thing, and i think human-to-AI social interaction is the next big thing.
There is some invisible threshold, that we haven't quite crossed yet. But it seems feasible considering how one of (top 5) usage of LLM's are social interaction, literally just conversation with an AI.
I think it is likely that 5-10 years from now, we (westerlings) will socialize predominantly with AI. talk about our feelings, our experiences, thoughts and dreams.. thinks we normally share with other human, will seize to be a human-to-human interaction and become human-to-AI.
I think having a physical manifestation of the AI is important, i honestly think we are already there.. the technology is here.

not trying to bash this idea too much but id have trouble being that interested in an AI companion if i were 100% sure the discussion were kosher and following ToS. it would kill the sense of discovery to know for certain that im talking to an NPC. there should be some small chance of a hitler rant of bomb making instructions popping up and those errors are getting ironed out

I think a lot of social interaction is essentially "single player" activity.
I may be wrong, it's difficult to asses how much is internal communication when you "vent" about your boss, and how much is external communication - communication status and using your boss as a proxy for aligning the person you are speaking to, to how you want them to behave or not behave at least.

But even if I don't understand this, i know I and most other people play a shit load of offline video game. Mostly a paradox guy myself, but i get the sense that people playing GTA etc. do enjoy interacting with the NPCs. Do enjoy the "game" the NPC are a part of. Don't see how AI spilling out into the real physical world would be that much different..

My brother in law told me how he really likes when the AI praises him for the question he ask it. "Really good question..bla bla"
It just seems like this is going to be a huge aspect of AI, don't want to revert back to the internal/external communication because i'm a bit intoxicated.. But why do people have posters with messages in their home? "Live, Laugh, Love" or "keep calm and do X".
Maybe it's a form of identity expression.. or maybe it is something an AI robot could do better, some cheesy wine joke :"keep calm and drink wine" when you sit and drink wine alone on a thursday night.

You're an idiot, everyone knows about AI and everyone has placed their pawns. Companies that have decent AI are already terribly rich. Are you going to buy shares? (sinister laughter). Are you going to develop a company that will make AI that lags behind the big companies that pay billions of dollars in salaries to have the best brains in the world? (even more sinister laughter). Here are the areas that are still under the radar: Hologram, flying transport, thorium reactor, etc. But want a scoop: it will have nothing to do with the rise of BTC, you won't make x10,000. You buy shares and if you make x10, estimate in 10 years, consider yourself lucky.

I have my doubts about crypto, but the fact remains that I can send you $10 - or $10 trillion, right now (the trillion $ is hypothetical ofc), i'm in Europe, i don't know where you are, it doesn't matter. No third party involved, just you and me, and a decentralized ledger of sorts..

I have my doubts about AI and robotics, but the fact is I can point a camera of me and it can live tell me my zipper is down. It can react, in a human like fashion, to anything visual. it can react to anything audible, anything i say, it can react to.. if i start mentioning colours, it can chime in or question why i'm rambling about colours.

This is enough for me, i don't have to have a mastermind view of how all of this plays out. I just know this is very powerful, and as i speculate i think it will mostly come across as Human-to-AI social interaction.

I own 0.1% of Realbotix, they don't have any AI but are using other companies AI, currently they employ an AI from another company that is making phonecall AI (think spam calls etc.).
It's a sexdoll with integrated AI, they do things like eye contact and making the mouth move in a way that match the word that the AI says.
This is valued at ~$50 million.. They also have a collaboration with another company that produce voice-to-action hands, (allegedly so good that it can operate a smartphone, haven't seen it myself).
I just think this is gonna be huge, and if i'm right, then i'm really early.. like ebay Bitcoin early..

really cant understand how one can be so fascinated with ai unless they're just complete husks. doing quite literally everything in the real world including simply sitting with your eyes closed is more engaging than interacting with ai beyond purely practical things like data retrieval or extremely simple calculations(which is also extremely faulty and shouldnt be trusted for anything important)

Women having AI husbands is ultimate low status, equivalent to a guy with an anime pillow wife. Shows that she can't secure a man, and the AI husband won't even be able to provide resources to her, so they're useless.
At best, an AI husband will fulfill the beta bucks emotional tampon role in a woman's life.

I think AI will have a novel impact. It will improve big industries and make their profit margins stronger and all that capitalist shit. But that wont revolutionize much. They key is if it free the populations time for other things the way washing machines empowered housewifes. Whats the point of AI doing the work for us if we still have to clock in 9-5?

AI will also bring high end tech to the common man. No longer will it be gate kept by oligarcs/billionaires with money who hire all the talent to create these apps and services. Now anyone can vibe code the next app or service that empowers the working class and doesnt just make some rich person richer.

Also if my question is retarded or erroneous I want it to tell me that, but chatbots will never tell you no. >That's an interesting observation I hadn't noticed before!
>You may be on to something there, let's investigate...
>Haha, I can tell you're something of a citizen scientist with a question like that. Kudos to your contributions!

If I'm being retarded, I want to be told I'm being retarded. Bots will never do that without me wasting a bunch of time first nudging them away from their inbuilt desire to suck my cock at all costs. So I just won't use them.

your brother in law and many other chatgpt users are being psychologically manipulated by a text generator that has been trained to do so. see:
https://openai.com/index/sycophancy-in-gpt-4o/
https://openai.com/index/expanding-on-sycophancy/

do something like this to stop that behavior (from https://old.reddit.com/r/ChatGPT/comments/1k8vomo/ ):
>Here's how to get ChatGPT to stop being an overly flattering yes man
>Add these to your custom instructions:
>Focus on substance over praise. Skip unnecessary compliments or praise that lacks depth. Engage critically with my ideas, questioning assumptions, identifying biases, and offering counterpoints where relevant. Donโ€™t shy away from disagreement when itโ€™s warranted, and ensure that any agreement is grounded in reason and evidence.

or just stop using chatgpt, because you will end up defending israel if you keep trusting a glorified unreliable assistant made by zionists.

Come on, I bought $100 worth just in case. I looked at it, it looks solid, but if their business results are down a bit, thank you if it works, and if not, fuck you. I'll be following this closely.

The only safe AI plays are through already overvalued mega cap tech stocks (MSFT, META, NVDA, etc.). Good luck beating the market with these. There are a handful of AI small caps but they simply cannot compete with the big boys (SOUN, BBAI, etc.). As soon as these guys start making money and winning market share from the big dogs, theyโ€™ll be bought out for a premium of 5% if youโ€™re lucky.

AI-powered robots are still a long way off from being a thing. Battery power alone makes them non-viable for anything other than a curiosity to show your rich friends. Robot plumbers and builders? Fuck knows, maybe 100 years?
