Do only low IQ people gamble?
I am currently struggling to find a job but live with my parents who can only provide bare minimum. I occasionaly buy couple of scratch off tickets and lottery couple of times with pocket change most of the time that has about 1:400000 chance of winning 10k usd equalent, $1 each. Can't keep count of change spent but pretty sure I lost way less than 1k in about a year, probably around 800 tops. I would not be doing it if I would have a job, even a mcwagie one. It is not like I dump everything I have in my bank at once, I have some self control. I feel embarrased of my impulsive spending and feel like a jackass.

I know this thread might be bizarre on /biz/ since crypto is sort of like gambling but I am talking about pure luck gambling, unlike trading and investing.

Mathematically, gambling is a bad idea (unless you cheat, or get good at poker, etc.). But it depends whether you draw other value out of it, like it being a good generic conversation topic.

Also crypto isn't 'sort of like gambling', it's absolutely pure luck gambling. It's just that the odds are more likely to be in your favour, same as most investments.

If you gamble for less than $100 a year don't worry about it, if it gives you a little bit of hope then so be it, it's worth it if thats all there is and you have strong self control. Just dont go full retard.

Realistically you're better off investing that money though, but it's not like you cant waste a tiny bit of money and invest the majority.
