I can't understand how people that day trade stocks think it's a viable way to make money
>I bought stocks and they crashed next day because of Trump tariffs
>I sold and the stock pumped next day because of Trump peace deal with Iran and Israel

This is literally gambling unless you have some insider info, which 99.9% of the population doesn't

Long term is gambling also but the odds of winning are better and you can count on some fundamentals. However if countries decide to go on third world war and stocks falls 80% there's nothing to predict that

If you had bought the S&P 500 in early 2000, you would not come back to break even until late 2007...when it would crash again and not recover until 2012.

There's a reason the mega wealthy park their money in a hedge fund, which can short and long positions and make money regardless of what happens. Buy and hold is still taking risking.

Congratulations, you figured it out. The other lesson you should've learned is not to make reactionary decisions based on yesterday's news after everyone else has already sold, especially if it's related to something orange man said/did
