Now that we've surpassed prices in Hong Kong, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, and Singapore, how likely do you think it is that Australia will continue to have the most expensive housing in the world? Do you think Australia deserves to be the most expensive?

The build quality is poor as the construction requirements are weak. The ridiculous pricing is ultimately the result of decades of government policy raising the prices via negative gearing and tax incentives.
The price is certainly not reflective of how great of a place it is to live.

Total boomer victory

Total millennial annihilation

They will introduce tax’s on the primary y residence in a few years time to begin withdrawing all that capital back to the state

No inheritance

No great well transfer to millennials

A lot of the "aged care" and assisted living retirement business in Australia is predatory. For boomers to retire into these aged care facilities, they need to sign over their property as collateral. Of course this is more convenient than leaving an inheritance to their children, so goodbye generational wealth

Australian houses are these Samoan style tin can sheds, right?
And Australia is an incredibly huge, completely empty country with extreme natural resources, literally anything.

Well, congratulations.

The only thing Australia "deserves" is to be bought out by the Chinese. Enjoy your new overlords.

The only natural disasters you guys have are spiders and emus. You could basically live in tents and be fine.

I remember arguing with some California retard about a new Aussie construction-robot system, he was shrieking autistically about how it could "never meet code" because "muh earthquakes". When was the last time Australia had an earthquake, 65,000,000 years ago when the dinosaur-killing asteroid hit us?

A fairly insignificant cyclone left large parts of the eastern metropolitan out of power for almost a week because the infrastructure is so floored despite the taxpayer forking out a shitload.

Many towns are setup on flood plains as historically they needed to be built close to rivers. Now with a couple weeks a rain, a '100 year flood' comes through every few years; the result is completely derelict and abandoned town as it's not worth rebuilding as well as the fact insurance will no longer cover the area for obvious reasons
