When the company figures out their thingamajing isn't useful, they're not going to all just give up their livelihoods making a big press release telling us they figured out their idea is a wash or it just doesn't work. No, they've got no real choice except to keep up a charade. Especially if they hyped themselves up at any point, otherwise they'll be accused of being a scam.
Then on top of that, a lot of these companies are using blockchain technology, but their token doesn't really tie into the product they're building, or they come up with convoluted explanations of how the token plays a role when it's just kind of bullshit.
Some actually do have utility. Solana for example has utility as chips in a very successful online casino.
But the vast majority are either outright scams, or failed technology that becomes scams because there's no graceful way to abandon the project if it fails and they have millions of people dumping money into it.
