ive wfh since 2019. im an accounting manager. i like it. if i ever have to go back to an office ill probably hang myself dead. as a safeguard against this i think im going to start my own tax accounting firm so i can be 100% remote even if mr. shekelberg tries to force me to RTO.

WFH since 2020

love not having to worry about what i'm wearing below the waist, typically roll out of bed 10 min prior to work and just shower/brush teeth

love not having to commute and wasting time/money on gas/vehicle maintenance

love not having to listen to worthless coworkers, love having my kitchen for lunch - fresh food and saves money

only downside is the social isolation... also it's bad for your health to be sitting in the same spot for 6+ hours, get a standing desk and make sure to go to the gym daily

if they made me RTO i would quit, but that's not going to happen since it would cost the company millions

I sold my car and moved to a walkable tourist area, now it's like I can go on vacation every weekend

its fine. some people are good at communicating over text and video, some are not. the big benefit is cost of living. i live in a 100k sized town with a 500k house. it'd be 2, maybe 3 million for the same house within a 30 minute commute in any major metro. Then add in the extra commute hours, have to have 2 cars, it all adds up.

Otherwise what do you want out of life? I figure I'd need to make 500k to have the same low 6 figure standard of life I have today. A recruiter couldn't believe I turned down a 300k job in NY city, they didn't get it, kept asking don't you make 175 now with a bonus? yep. COL calculator says 175 in po dunk nowhere is 450 in NYC

I love that I spend a fair amount of my day jerking off to porn in my pjs. There's nothing I dislike about the current arrangement
