are they actually rich or are they living paycheck to paycheck? I believe people have different definitions of being rich. buying 100% into consumerism isnt usually a sign of being rich if anything its the complete opposite of that.

Every rich person I know wears a high-end 5 figure watch, drives a Mercedes or something similar, usually wears golfer types clothes, like khaki shorts and a collard t-shirt, etc. These images are just cope. If some dude is wearing a $35k necklace, he's got more money than 90% of normies.

Cope.

Yes, they are rich even if they're living paycheck to paycheck. Some dude living in a $3 million house and driving a $100k car, even if it's paycheck to paycheck, is richer than the guy living in a trailer park that has 5 or 6 figures saved up in an investment account.

i dont know about 1000 bucks but more like 500.
cheap ones has smaller area of visibility. usually its small area where you look at "in normal" position. good ones have whole glass area.

1. cheap ones has no coating for dirt and you need to clean them every day no matter what you do.

2. cheap dont have coating for scratches.

1. clean -> 2. scratches
dirt and dust gets in scratches -> more cleaning -> more scratches

cheap ones lasts for 6 months if you work at the office. good ones might last for years.

also you have them on your head 16 hours a day. cheap ones feal terrible.
glass parts 200-300 and frame 150-250 gets you best parts. over that and you pay for the brand.

i have $100 glasses on right now and it was my biggest mistake for this decade. just about to clean my glasses 3rd time today.

no they are not.
luxottica has "levels" and raybans are in the bottom of it. when you buy prada its higer in quality, but still you can buy serengeti (bolle brands) for 1/2 price and its better than prada. also oakley has lenses other glasses made by luxottica dont have.

you are saying all cars of the same brand are the same. it's retarded take and you know it.

ultimately all that shit has a 500x markup though and you can easily find offbrand shit that's just as good for $4-$30. Plastic is cheap, lens are cheap, even UV400 coating is cheap.

not really, as they are small layers of the glass.
you might find some spraycoating for dirt but it might actually cause glare.
harder glass is made not applied.

it would require machine but you might save by doing some coatings your self as in any other product but would you add seatheaters to your car if you saved $200? for me it would take more hours to learn about it than it would save as lenses are only half of the price and coatings are only max half of the price of lens. in the end coatings could save me $100 in every 2 to 4 years. normal human does not need to save $100 that bad.
now that i bought cheap ones i need to get new glasses inside a year and I have had these fucks on my head while i see glear and dirtstripes all the time. addition to discomfort buying cheap actually lost me money as i need to buy new ones 4 to 8 times more often for 1/4th of the price

>>60560991
luxottica has poor quality brands and all the poor ones could be bought cheaper, but quality ones can't be made in china sweatshop.
in my experience gucci tier(used to be made by luxottica, don't know current maker) is best non custom made and it costs +400 for frames

cuggi quality is compareble to carrera (safilo) and serengeti(bolle brands)
cuggi is 1/3-2/3 more expensive, so yes luxottica has high markup as its dominating the market, but there might not be much markup in alternative real brands.

your knowledge of manufacturing seems non existent. cheap ones could be made for $30, but good ones are near 100-150 and then they need to do all normal business stuff like marketing and in the end custom lenses for you. everything has high markups in that core level but what is left might not be so glorious.

you could do everything your self and save. makes no sense tough, as most of the time you would lose more time than save money.

real luxury is having a custom design that others cant buy in a convenient online store
everything that has a brand name on it is garbage for idiots, you know this

i am not familiar with sunglass production details, but at least now the handbag bubble burst after china revealed it was all the same garbage made in chinese sweatshops and sold at 50x markup
i cant imagine any big conglomerate in todays world not doing the same in their own branch
like anyone can evaluate the quality of the sunglasses coating anyways

all good glasses are made in europe and japan. (I might not know some small made in somewere else)
shittyones can be made in china.

in luxottica glasses brandnames are quality. rayban has higer quality level than shitbranded and cuggi has higer than rayban as "more valuable" brand. poor quality that can be compared to china quality has some kind of brand that no one knows.
supermarket eyewear is 3 parts of platic 2 screws and 2 lenses. higest quality has over 15 parts and lenses need machines that costs tens if not hundreds of thousands. only real eyewere manufacturers can make best quality ones. kinda like TSMC and samsung makes all good semiconductors worth mentioning.
equal quality to luxottica high end is made by other companies i mentioned but cheaper. Japan has more custom made frame companies but I cant recall names.

in short. yes poor glasses can be made in brand names but good quality ones costs money no matter what brand was stamped on the side. if you need sunglasses for few hours a year buy what ever works. if you need eyeglasses 16 hours a day you should buy good ones and anyone using eyeglasses should know this if they have tested any others than the cheap ones.

i dont know how this works where you live, but for my actual needed for vision glasses i buy the actual medical lenses and the frame separately
with the glasses made in bulk by medically accredited no brandname industrial outfits and the rims having the assortment of overpriced brand garbage
i still have a local optician available that does his own rims and assembly so i dont have to pay for the overpriced brand garbage

but anyways needed glasses are a medical necessity, this thread thusfar was about sunglasses which arent made to that standard remotely

btw OP pic has eyeglasses and that's why I made my point.

We have only 4 large brand stores in my area.
2 sells only luxottica 1 sells luxottica and few options of other brands and the last one sells china quality. Ones I had china quality and I will not get those anymore. Current ones I needed abroad and ordered from local shop. Terrible quality. If I had time in Japan I would buy custom frames, but it might take a month because of the lines. I might just make that trip for the glasses tough. life starts to be in that level.

>life starts to be in that level.
soon you'll say you cant imagine a life without it, you get used to it pretty quick, there is nothing wrong to go on a vacation for goods remember you arent a wagie anymore your time is your own

but in the case of glasses as with ops pic, i understood it to refer to the frame since thats universal applicable and subject to the brandname tax
but the actual lenses themselves can very wildly in price depending on which exact condition you have so its not really comparable between people
plus the rest of the thread was about luxottica

Cheap ones generally look shittier. If you find good looking cheap glasses, you got lucky.
Cheaper ones also break and scratch more easily.
They warp out of shape and sit awkwardly on your face.
Then there's all the lens extras. You pay extra for thinner lenses. Not everyone needs to, but if your eye sight sucks, you end up with huge coke bottle things if you don't.

It's one of those QOL things that pays off exponentially.
