>>60563108 (OP)On the one hand, I want to hate the guy because he is legitimately off-putting, and the tools Palantir make have extremely high abuse potential. On the other, he's really into Rene Girard and seems to run in "enlightenment rationalism had a 250 year run so what's next" type circles.
Palantir at its core is a data integration platform, which should make it to form profiles from wide ranging data bases that otherwise don't communicate with each other. Hypothetically this could allow the owner to systematically ID and countermand anyone exhibiting wrong-think. The possible upside is rapidly targeting actual criminals, and even forcing government agencies to make enforcement actions that they otherwise would prefer to sweep under the rug since they can't be hidden. Ultimately surveillance tech is a lot like bio tech: We know someone is going to do it, and then they will package it and sell it abroad to form the world in the way that they want. If there is going to be a panopticon AI package, governments bid on, presumably the made in USA one is preferable to the CCP version.
