Look up how Nyquist Frequencies works -- basically, if you want to be able to detect a frequency, you must sample at at least twice that frequency to detect it and if you don't take enough samples then the best fit will always look smooth. We would need millions of times more ice core temperature samples than we currently do to be able to accurately detect decade scale frequencies.

Here's my retard assessment.

From a cursory read, Wolfspeed got btfo in the EV and renewables energy bust. They went all-in because of the Biden administration's extremely friendly attitude towards renewables. Combine that with expansion efforts and they just ran out of cashflow when they needed that energy boom to sustain itself for about ten years instead of two. They were genuinely planning to expand their fab capability to meet this demand.

They will probably lose the CHIPS Act subsidy so it'll worsen their financial situation. They filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to restructure their debt. On top of this, China is likely selling SiC chips at under cost to act as a loss leader and drive out US competition in the market.

The thing is that Wolfspeed has viable and solid products. Unlike most companies that specialize in non-silicon chips, they are not vaporware. They were on track to be dominant in its sectors (SiC and GaN). The timing was bad. The products are necessary for the coming demand for high voltage and high power throughput applications that are upcoming in the race for AI and in a decade, general use robotics.

As for ownership, institutional investors are your usual suspects. The one of note is Renesas Electronics (JPN), who sees value in keeping the company alive. They have agreed to buy some of their debt in exchange for equity stake. Renesas is Wolfspeed's #1 customer, so they are securing their bottom line when the US market has decided to shit on their future high-end manufacturing for... whatever 47's admin is doing. Renesas is also a Japanese company, and the Japanese really do not like it when US IP gets bought up by a shell company owned by a Chinese state entity. The Chinese have this habit of turning raw materials into mutually assured destruction.

I don't think this company will die, but it won't recover quickly either. If you really believe in it, dump cash into it and forget about it for a long time.

When that strategy begins to fail the first thing the Fed will do is lower interest rates. That mean there's one last big pop left in TLT before it dies. Sometime in the next decade it will double or triple in value, then I'm selling it for gold.
