I think this is well overblown. Britain is still one of the wealthiest countries in the world. The wealthy still own the vast majority of British assets (about 80% of total land alone IIRC). Labour are cutting benefits to the poor, who already receive some of the lowest benefits versus comparable EU states. Taxes on earnings over a certain amount may increase but seemingly won't touch capital gains.

The other anon pointing to Brexit is largely correct. The EU was our major trading partner and Brexit immediately chilled growth in the commercial sector. Additionally white professional europeans made up a considerable percentage of our health and high tech sectors, as well as skilled labour in care and seasonal agriculture. The enormous spike in migration from brown countries happened immediately after Brexit precisely because of the shortfall in manpower in key sectors caused by the loss of free movement, exacerbated by covid which saw a combination of redundencies, expedited retirements, increased disability claims and mortalities.

It should be understood first and foremost that immigrants service the wealthy by keeping wages competitive and maintaining high demand of housing, goods and services. Both the tories and labour have enormous incentives to maintain asset values and keep the middle classes supplied with cheap labour.

What they didn't realise was that the Tories and their banker handlers were going to punish the UK for voting for it but aligning laws and regulations with the EU anyway and then flooding the country with 3rd world replacements and not sign any free-trade agreements anyway.

Essentially after we voted for Brexit, the establishment took the mask off and revealed that the country is run for the benefit of the City of London and that they weren't going to bother with democracy anymore. Kinda like the EU did with the Lisbon treaty and various referenda.

The country is completely finished, anyone with any aspirations has already gone or is thinking of leaving.
