I make 65k per year working from home WFH in a flyover state as a systems administrator (pretty close to the mississppi river). My job isnt very intense as im posting this thread while im clocked in, usually when its dead i go for a 30 minute walk after my break. Its pretty quiet and the corporate headquarters is less than a 2 minute walk where they have a full kitchen staff to cook breakfast and lunch along with a fully included gym.

My rent is 780 per month and i dont have any car payments, eggs are 3 dollars per 18, and my electricity is 0.065 KW/H. Basically pretty cheap, my student loans are at 15k (thanks community college).

At first i felt blessed about being in this unique position, but ive been having this undeniable sense of wasting my time doing nothing all day collecting a paycheck. The monotonous routine of finishing cases and troubleshooting for customers is getting pretty boring. I feel as if my life is slipping between my fingers while im just doing nothing allday. Has anyone who works from home felt this before?

Ive been applying to different places in cities like portland, chicago, seattle, boston, phoenix, new york city, miami, and have been getting offers starting around 85k per year. Especially in chicago or phoenix.

Are there any careers that are truly fullfilling to ones soul? Im starting to regret my decision going into tech and focus on working from home. I could be developing priceless networking and social skills around the office.

I just feel empty sitting at home collecting a paycheck while i browse /biz/ allday waiting for my "real life" to begin.

Anyone with advice?

$65k in flyoverland is like $120k+ in those cities. i'm not even memeing you. you'll be paying $3k/mo for a 600 square foot apartment unless you want to risk being robbed and raped by niggers.

This doesn't exist. The modern office setting WILL make you want to kill yourself. Stay in your home office and use your free time to develop a passion in something unrelated to waging.

85k in Chicago isnโ€™t bad but you have niggers. 85k in Phoenix would have been good 5 years ago but just scraping by now.

yeah im from a flyover shithole area and i worked in a high rise building in center city philly at a """"prestigious"""" company. i knew it would be gay as hell going into it but there was a little novelty.... that lasted for like 2 weeks.

now i wfh. having a wfh job is the epitome of white collar work.

Women only wanna fuck me based on being 6'4, white, and that i actually use the gym provided by my company 5 to 6 days a week. But yeah women can easily weed out the chuds eventually

You are so bored that you are going to make your life hell for no other reason than boredom.

Get some hobbies, you've already won.

Just take PTO and spend some time out in the hustle and bustle and see if it's for you. You'll probably get tired of it after a week. Im making 95k/yr but I bust my ass on the regular and have an ungrateful wife to take care of. You're probably investing double what I am. Do the math on CoL ask around from people in the industry in the cities you want to live.

dating is much more competitive in the city too. you might be the only 6'4 white 20 something at your job now. you'll be competing against dozens of them at a corporate hq in nyc.
