i'm a tax accountant. we're already planning on how to price gouge everyone on all of these tax code changes (no tax on overtime, no tax on tips.) my minimum 1040 is going from $525 to $625 and my minimum entity return is going from $2500 to $3000. this is a golden age for us CPA/EA chads.

Neato, but how are you going to compete with grok? You know for the past couple years it has become common for even turbo normies to have ai prepare their taxes. I did it myself last year and have no technical experience or tax experience. I just told it everything and it generated the line item entries for me to input in the forms. I got a stamp and envelope from my boss' desk and filed completely for free. Got the largest tax refund in my entire life this way and will never hire an accountant again. I'm pretty sure you fags use it to prepare client returns as well, so why pay?

i find it funny how people misinterpret this always when its their own line of work
no this doesnt mean ai will be fully autonomous and do everything itself, it does mean that ai will create such large efficiency gains that the required amount of wagies to achieve the same output drops drastically
and since retraining will be slow as wagies cling to their illusions the labor conditions for those that hold on will drop rather noticeable
but i hear you interdict i am le epic self employed master race, the rates you can charge will be a race to the bottom as large outfits with custom ai agents will outbid and outwork you on every level
it will be one giant consolidation in a few ai firms, you have no idea how hard the bells are tolling for thee op
since dont forget a straightforward rules based system like taxes is the prime domain where ai excels in

>to potentially represent you in tax court
i am sorry you hold a law degree, you are a legit tax attorney

I used a real life example of someone that will be filing and may need your services. Focus on me for the next few years and try to build up a wealthier client list.
They will gladly pay a lot as you mentioned. But these lower brackets will not be bringing you any volume soon.
Advice. Take it or leave it.

In business, you want to cater to people with money. That's the biggest thing to understand about business.
Unless you are globocorp, then your services should be entirely focused on people with a lot of money.

Not really. I don't hire low level tards. Most CPAs are pencil pushers with not GUTS and won't help you against he IRS or have been trained to watch for standard deductions and simple things.

They aren't CREATIVE and they don't have a very in depth understanding of the tax code.
Their skills are not in demand by me.
The anon above specifically says he's charging more to people that don't make much money.
HE is going away if he doesn't raise his level. High end services demand a paycheck.
But doing taxes for wagies with a house and mortgage and making sure they take their deductions because they are literally retarded is not a high level service.

I don't know entirely, but OP sounds like the guy I call to tell "get me your boss I have something to talk about."

Well I HIRE people to know this stuff because I have a lot of real estate, PPE, depreciation, etc.
But now I'm in a partnered LLC with only two members. So I take a paycheck as an employee and the other partner takes profit along with me at a 50/50.

We have to take equal amounts out generally, but IRS doesn't seem to care too much about what "equal" partner compensation is and since my paycheck registers as just an employee paycheck it doesn't factor in.

We usually just write out a check for ourselves from the till at the end of the year for whatever we agree to take off the top. I'm the COO or operations manger and run the place.

My issues arise with family land, real estate, office rentals, depreciation and where I should take deductions as I funnel money to my mother and write off PPE in the most beneficial spot.

We have farm land, so are a registered farm, but we aren't farmers, just have farm income. But a farm lets you write off a lot of things.

Continued as response was too long...

I also own the most highly valued building in my community (small community, valued at a million for property tax purposes).
So I need someone that can arrange a lot of affairs and give me ideas on where I should be funneling and spending the money.
Setting up things like the LLC renting off of me personally and to what degree and at what rent level that keeps me personally paying less taxes.

Its' further complicated by my wife making $400,000/y, so I believe we will stop filing jointly this next time around.
There is a LOT here to tinker with and it takes expertise.

The question you asked seems a a little simplified and not really relevant to reducing my tax burden.
When SALT went away a few years ago (I'm in IL) I had to rejigger.
The BBB just moved it back up to $40,000 which covers almost entirely my $52,000 a year in local property taxes on my commercial property. So now I can start reporting more income because I can deduct it.
It's a FUCKING LOT and I use high level help. I don't need someone telling me to make sure and collect my receipts for small time shit.
I am not a tax expert. I need one.

the "no tax on overtime" above the line deduction is for the "half" portion of "time and a half." so let's say you make $7350 in overtime wages, calculated as $49 x 1.5x OT rate x 100 hours. you get an above the line deduction of $49 x 0.5 x 100 hours = $2475. assuming your highest tax bracket is 22%, that's a $545 tax deduction.

also it phases out at $150k MAGI.
