Even if the population decreases, the amount of credit in the system is still going to be increasing for at least the next 30 years at minimum. I fail to see how or why explanations involving deliberate sabotage are required when simpler more mechanical explanations do the job just fine. It may likely be that there is an elite class who are in large part responsible for engineering society in such a way that demographic collapse ensues, but I sincerely doubt that was actually their intention. Rather they just designed things to maximize their profit which turned out to produce a society that is overbearingly anti-human and suppressive/disruptive of natural instincts. Even rich cocksuckers can be shortsighted and fail the marshmallow test. Although it may ultimately end up in their favor now that automation and AI obsolete the point/purpose of most wage laborers, the demographic effects were happening long before any of that stuff seemed even remotely likely to happen.
