Question - I need a business idea.
Answer - Endless variations of 'invest in kneepads and suck dicks'

IIRC there was one mushroom farming anon that made it.

I would say a crypto containment board would be good, but this board was shit before crypto got big.

It was populated with threads about shrimp farming, 'should i get my engineering degree?', 'drop shipping-is it worth it?', tor threads, max Keiser threads and the occasional nerd blathering on about how crypto will explode-especially bitcoin.

I was here on the first day /biz/ started. It was a super slow board. I was a /pol/ addict and it was way too slow at the time to entertain me. I promptly went back to /pol/ for the next five years.

I deeply regret that now.

This was a /g/ meme before /biz/ even existed. Been too long since I’ve seen that picture.

Anyway, >>60587528 and >>60587569 are both correct - /biz/ was mostly created to quell the surge of Bitcoin related threads on /g/ back in 2011 and 2012. Cryptocurrency even in tech nerd circles was seen as a contentious issue and many /g/entoomen got buttblasted because about 10% of all threads on /g/ at one stage ended up being related to BTC in some way, shape, or form for a period of time there. Even from the very beginning of /biz/, threads relating to starting a business or career related threads were firmly in the minority.
>I didn’t buy any BTC back then because like most people on /g/ I thought it was a flash in the pan load of rubbish that would fizzle out and die or that governments worldwide would just ban it, and besides I was a teenager in school and didn’t really have any money anyway

>>60587640
This too, I spent a lot more time on /pol/ back then. /pol/ seemed a lot better back then though.

And the Nvidia cards aren't even expensive anyways, tech geeks are just whiney poorfags. Same as complaining about video games being $80, even though most of them have been $60 since the N64 days.

well thats easy a career thread is retarded, modern globohomo is unbearable and if you found a corn thread back then you would be out permanently of your career in 3 years tops anyways as you couldnt justify the time spent against the pittance earned
i do remember many frugal maxxing threads so more could be thrown in eth and those modern day vagabonds were the smartest of us all

same line of reasoning for starting a business, but wait its even worse than being a wagie for starting a business is working double hours and paying to get hired rather than receiving a wage, for almost every endeavor started the startup costs were not worth it versus dropping it all into corns and doing 2 shift at the ballbusting factor for 3 years
crypto was just this good in the past decade /biz/ existed

>>60587732
we had this thread before but if you renormalize modern games in $ per hour of expected gameplay, games have deflated enormously
compare game from the 00's play through time to modern open world behemoths

We used to talk about:
>actual brick&mortar business ideas
>dropshipping general
>side hustle generals
>there was the couponing phase when 4chan got ahold of the code to generate their own valid coupons for all major retailers (ended up getting the feds involved)
>regular college major discussions that all devolved into "go into finance at X university" and then some anon would post that screenshot that showed going to a ranked university was statistically worthless and state schools often earned more money per $ spent on tuition
>trading strategies had their own generals
>shitcoins were a much more minor thing comparative to now where its all you see
>multiple /biz/ mastermind groups led by McLogical and a few others that tought /biz/lets how to do SEO and affiliate marketing stuff
>regular thread where tradies would talk about making $200k+ but then actual construction managers would post paystubs for those trades showing $20-35/hr regardless of trade
>tons of other shit that wasn't crypto
This place used to have a soul.

that one always made me laugh

/biz/ was never smart enough to understand the difference between a wagie making $25/hr and a self-employed guy doing the same job for $250/hr

this place is and always was bottom-of-the-barrel retards.

You were not here when this board was new. This board was a crypto board from day 1. It was created to offload crypto talk from /g/. Obviously it is different now compared to 2017 but that's more in terms of quality and quantity of posts, memes, etc. Culture is garbage now, almost dead. GME finished what was already in decline by 2019. Peak /biz/ was the 2018 bear, unironically.
