Unironically to shill amazon basics. They let a million dropshippers sell trash as product testing, then sell a a very slightly better item as their own brand slightly cheaper. Even though I've noooooticed it still worked on me. Their canned crushed tomatoes are particularly good and better than the more expensive options at the grocery store

because a million dumbasses spent 2018-2020 setting up dropshipping businesses on Amazon and selling courses about it to each other, inundating the site with a million product clones all coming from the same warehouse in China with household favorite brands like ZNMORT and JOYBEST.

I remember back in like 2012 you could just search for something and you'd get like 3 results and you would just read the reviews and pick one. Now you get a thousand results for anything you search, all of them look identical but have varying prices and reviews.
I like getting cheap components delivered in 2 days (and now I'm even getting same-day on some things) but the site feels like a third world bazaar now.

White moms but that was the runup and now it's mostly poor people who buy it out of necessity and the white moms moved on to Temu. The same moms would buy garden decor from the dollar store in the 2000s/early 2010s so really, it's just women because if you understand marketing men prefer sturdy (think a durable toolbox) while women prefer bargain/deal.

They became a conduit for china with ZERO curation cuz third party sellers are big $$$$ for the biz. Scamazon is just an supersized walmart now except for one difference: even walmart curates their goods.
