For me, it's the TLX Type S.

What people are realizing is, if every car is way overpriced, including the "reasonable" choices, then you might as well get a nice car you like if you're going to spend the money every month.

My car payment is about 650 a month. The initial loan was 25k. I've applied a couple bonuses to it to pay it down faster. I'll have it paid off by the end of the year. Real talk guys: don't get a car this expensive as soon as you graduate college. I can afford it, but I'd have made good gains over the past couple years if I'd have invested this 650/month + bonuses instead of using it to pay off my fucking Subaru.

I had to make a choice a few years ago. Its either owning a car OR working one day less per week. Both choices were pretty much equivalent financially. Ditched the car, have to use the bus now but have to work less. Food for thought for the all the car bros. After a while the fucking thing starts owning you anyway. All the repairs, maintenance and whatnot is getting really annoying after a while.

Ok sure this is the average but what is the median? The poorer the person is the more likely the car is some 20 year old piece of junk that's paid off. Meaning any data on monthly car payments is from fairly new cars and excludes a large group of poor people. Even then though I could not imagine spending anything over $400 a month on a car.

Is not having a car payment the only "flex" a poor person can have?

Also, why are cars the only consumer product that people do this with? If you see someone at a grocery store buying an expensive name brand of something, you don't have an autistic meltdown with that, it's just cars.

>Total nationwide encounters under the Biden-Harris administration now exceed more than 10.3 million, compared to just 3.1 million from Fiscal Years (FY) 2017-2020 combined. Notably, this does not include the roughly two million known gotaways recorded by CBP since the start of FY21.

I know almost nothing about cars, I don't even know how to drive except the very basic stuff, and I learned that some months ago because I want to buy a new car.
I've been researching this shit, and I've come to realize that the amount of problems some new cars can have and the scams repair shops pull on people means you have to know what you are getting into or do a lot of research to buy a new car, or simply buy an old car and make sure to have someone who knows his shit to help with that.
am I right? if so, I don't think I'll be buying a new car until I learn a lot more about cars...

>"UHHH IM ACKTUALLY SO RICH I GET A NEW ONE EVERY 2 YEARS"
Okay, buy that one as well. now you have two cars. Loans are good only for certain things. If you take out a mortgage on a house, you now have an investment. leasing or loaning a car is retarded. pay its price and look after it, that's the best choice

If it has already done the bulk of its depreciation itโ€™s not the worldโ€™s worst idea if you need a car. Buy a good $20k old but classic (Iโ€™m talking future classic) one and you should be able to sell it for at or near the same price that you got it

I think leasing is dumb, but there is a specific demographic who it makes sense for. There are people like that anon who want a new luxury car every 2 or 3 years, and don't mind having car payments. For them paying 20k-30k for a lease over a few years is better than being stuck with negative equity on a car they no longer want. I'm not saying it's smart, but if you want to drive a Masarati or Bentley that's worth 120k MSRP for a few years a lease might be better.

It really only makes sense if you're determined to make poor financial decisions in order to look wealthy. Which as you know, a lot of people are.

This. People have very powerful egos and are prideful. To them staying financially weak is a better alternative to driving a used 10 year old Jap car.

I laugh so hard when I see normies driving some nice new car. Total rubes. Itโ€™s a horrifically stupid idea to be spending hundreds a month on a depreciating asset if you donโ€™t have tens of thousands invested already. Someone whoโ€™s still paying off a 60 month lease for a new car bought in 2021 could have bought a Corolla for a few grand and put the monthly payment money into Bitcoin and be loaded

100k on games over 10 years is 10,000 / 60 = 167 games per year. Unless you're saying you spend 9k on hardware per year, which would basically mean building a NASA computer from the ground up every single year, then there's no way you're spending that much on games. I buy basically whatever I want on steam and upgrade every few years, and I barely spend 500 on a liberal year.

Instead of buying a car, I went and worked overseas for a contracting company that paid for my housing and transport. I did that for 10 years, invested and bought crypto, then "retired" at 35 (not really, just dont need to work anymore and unsure what venture to engage in).

Car/housing/etc are all designed to keep you poor and in your cage. You can make the right play to get massively disposable income to buy assets and make risky investments when you are young.

Every dollar you spend on rent of repaying loans is a dollar you miss out on pumping into markets.

You can go work on a fishing boat or mining site, something like that also and achieve the same amount of disposable income, with no degree and no experience.

Housing + transport covers = financial freedom by your 30's.

I work a travel job myself, if you can get something that pays well, (+50k minimum) and has minimal costs associated with housing and energy, shit is so cash. Someone else is paying for your food, shelter, utilities, etc. (((Banks))) target housing and autos because it's necessary to have those things to survive in most of the US. If you can get away with not paying bills, not consoooming and having a good paying job, you can get loads of cash in just 5 years. Whether you toss that magic 100k number into the markets or just buy property and cars outright in cash is up to you, but if you got nowhere to be and nothing better to do, look for that type of work. As tempted as I am to not rent ASAP, if I took a 30 year instead of saving cash, I'd spend an extra 20 years at most being in the cagie than if I had just saved. And you don't even need to save in cash either. This isn't to say there's never any wisdom in loans, but to check your desire at the door before you flock off to someone who will put you in bondage in exchange for material wealth. Does it make sense? For cars, almost never.

God knows what's with your personal life if any of this sounds appealing, but...we're here for money, not life fulfillment. Once you can cover your butt when it comes to the costs of living, you can "buy" more freedom from the system.

Around me, you can't find shit under $7k without going to facebook marketplace and looking at rusted out shitboxes that won't pass inspection and reek of cigarettes.
>>60598695
> Of course they only impress other normies.
We're just deluding ourselves to pretend that's not important though. You don't need a luxury car, although it is kind of nice, but if your car looks like a beater and you're over the age of 30, everyone will judge you for it. It's like dressing like a slob vs being somewhat put together looking.
That said, you don't need to drop $20k+ on one. You can buy a 10 year old used luxury car for nearly the same price as a non-luxury car of the same type with the same mileage, and nobody except car fanatics will know the difference.
Also, if you drive a lot, why not? When your car's embarrassing, it brings you down a little every time you get in it. When it's nice, it's the opposite effect. It's like wearing your best clothes vs. something ratty and fits you awkwardly.

New cars are generally one of the worst purchases you can make.

Go used 100%.
Mileage and apparent condition is more important than the year of the car. How high is too high really depends on the car and the make.
A Toyota with 150k miles in good shape is probably a better buy than a Nissan with 75k.

But the basics of any car are you want to test drive it, then pull over somewhere to check how much rust it has under the car. Open the hood, check for corrosion and rust, feel the belts to make sure they're firm but not too brittle and don't have any cracks in them, make sure there's signs of fluid leaking anywhere.

I don't either, I just wanted an SUV. Was hoping for a 10ish year old Toyota Highlander, considering a Subaru Forester, then came across a Mercedes GLK in great shape lower mileage than I was expecting to buy, so for an extra $1500, why not?
Drives nice, leather seats, emblem that either impresses normies or makes them seethe (I get off a little on both). And at $11k it was still a cheaper car than the average one on the road.

Have you bought lately? 5k is like the floor for something that runs at all now. Sub 10k is the new inexpensive car.

>cars invented
>become a symbol of freedom allowing people to meet with each other and participate in activities over larger distances than ever before
>internet gets invented
>now people can talk and do stuff together from their own home
>instant access to information and services from around the world, not just in driving distance

The freedom that was once embodied by cars is gone, subsumed by the internet. all that's left is the rotting infrastructure built during the automobile golden age and a culture of car obsession that is gradually being left in the past.

Why? Why do you need a 50,000 dollar car? A car is, first and foremost, a vehicle, it's a tool you use to get from point a to point b and back again. Unless you're a multimillionaire with mountains of disposable income, the only thing you should be considering in a vehicle is its dependability and how cheap it is to repair. There's so many more useful things that could be done with that money, or just keeping yourself out of debt. The kind of people who would be attracted to you in one way or another for having a "nice" car, are not the kind of people you would want in your life anyway.

To EVERY person in this thread bragging about how shitty and cheap your car is, I just want you to know something:

You are asleep. I am awake. I am the reality show, the catalyst, the 15 minutes you'll never have. You wanna know why I do this? Well, I wanna know why you don't. The thing is, herding animals stay with the pack, while the lone wolves speed away in their shiny, brand new car. You are a sheep and you don't even know it. A sad existence.

>no gigatard tablet interface
>no steering wheel buttons
>no lane assist
>no emergency brake assist
>no auto start stop
>no annoying blinks or beeps
>not crippled or overengineered due to EPA regulations

Pretty pure driving experience. I go full autismo meltdown every time I drive my mom's newer car and it beeps at me every time someone passes or vibrates the wheel when crossing lane lines. Honestly, all the safety shit feels unsafe to me at this point.

The EPA stuff causes manufacturers to make cars shittier too. Auto start stop wears your shit down faster. Then you have shit like toyota axing v6 tacomas for 4cyl turbo only. Also EGR on diesel engines cause carbon buildup in your engine and fuck your shit up. Then you have 10k intervals and thinned out 0w20 being the standard nowadays. I imagine cars built in the last 10 years making it to 200k miles will be rare.

You know what's worse anon? The fucking wives.

For some unknown reason, even though it does not affect them at all, even if they have zero money they personally put in themselves, women just HAVE to pressure the family, whether the dad or the husband, into new vehicles. I cannot fathom it. I have to fight off all my family members every year asking why I'm still driving civic shitboxes when they run clean, and any maintenance issues that pop up from the nature of the cars just being old, the cost is much much cheaper than any monthly payment would do. Not to mention, how much cheaper insurance is, registration, and general replacement costs.

I refuse to buy a new vehicle so long as the price of fixing a 90s civic is cheaper than any car payment, and I refuse to have any tablet, camera, blindspot nonsenes, automated window, or anything of the sort in my car.

You're an imbecile. Many Acuras are built on Honda platforms, but the TLX is unique in that it is a purely Acura vehicle and isn't based on any Honda model. It has its own frame and engine and is only built in Acura factories. How is that "not a different brand at all"? I'll forgive you for being stupid, since most poor people are, but would it kill you to do like 30 seconds of research before spewing false nonsense? We have the Internet now, there's no excuse for it anymore.
