Is it really though? without fiat ramps nobody would really be using it for anything, can it stand as currency on it's own? Why is it then that countries with failing currency didn't start using it 15 years ago and still don't use it?

There are no fiat ramps to bitcoin. There is just the bitcoin network. You can find a bitcoiner to give you bitcoin for dollars or chickens or a house or a car or a beer. The network is completely agnostic to any other asset
