It's true tho. Your looks are like your IRL "luck" stat. And not just for dating opportunities, but also interpersonal treatment in general. People are warmer to you, more doors seem to magically open, coworkers are more eager to assist you, people laugh at your mistakes, competence is assumed and not often tested, etc..

Anyone who had a glow-up will attest to this. I wasn't introverted; I was just ugly so people didn't afford me positive social experiences. Post glow-up, everyone is happy to talk to you and suddenly now I'm extroverted because conversing became an enjoyable experience. And I started to climb the corporate ladder much more quickly. It's a winner's effect where interviewers look at me and assume competence, and also I can speak better after newfound positive social experiences.

This. I'm ugly and I used to be very skinny. Then I hit the gym hard and noticed that people treated me differently. I always thought "oh, maybe it's because I'm more confident", but really it was because I got jacked and people now see me differently. Then I stopped going to the gym and began being treated like shit again.
