Silver isn't really needed in industry they only use it because Big Mining produces so much as a byproduct of useful metal mining like copper

>Miralloyยฎ processes are industry's best alternatives to silver, palladium, nickel, and gold for a broad range of applications, including high-frequency components and high-end decorative plating.
>These trimetal finishes are tarnish-free, RoHS compliant, diamagnetic, and RF-friendly, making them suitable for various industrial uses.

Just wanted to drop in and mention that Bitcoin hit a new ATH yesterday. If you'd bought the dip like I told you to a month or so ago at $102K, you would be up 15% already.

IIRC gold is only up 15% in six months. Not bad, but not Bitcoin.

Not even near, those were minted in massive amounts, Athens didn't change design for their tetra in well over a century so they aren't that rare. Still a georgous piece any ancient collector should have one of. If you are on a tight budget you still get options, these ones sold last week for less than $200.

Hand made as repros you mean? No, those are 2400 yo originals.
But to know how they got acquired is pretty much impossible to tell, it's lost in the depths of time. The rarest/most beautiful ones often have a pedigree (tracking records of previous ownerships), but it rarely goes back prior to a century from now. Coins collecting is as old as coinage itself, but until the 1900s it was done very casually, with rare ouvrages on the matter. Only the uber-collections like the Rothschilds or Charles Quint coins cabinets have old track records.
Most coins you see being auctionned have been dug up from the ground in the last century or two.

Deterrence through violence. It was automatic capital punishment springled with torture on the public place for anyone involved if you were found out.
Until quite recently, i remember french notes all having marked on them
>counterfeiting this bill is punished by penal servitude for life*
* in our penal colonies (ie caraibans islands), like the devil's island or in Guyana, meaning death within 3-5 years max.
But that was before we were sissyfied cucks ruled by traitors ofc.

Still, counterfeiting was pretty common, especially through the early middle age (when silver was really scarce due to the amateurism of mining operations) and you've quite a bunch of historical accounts of foreign powers counterfeiting their opponents' coins to finance wars or undermine their authority, etc..
Just like today really, by some estimate there are as many counterfeit $100 bills than real ones in circulation worldwide. But it's not things the governments like to talk about, otherwise ppl would ask questions (like how come the CIA secretly shipped a fully functional USD printing press to the USSR back in 1980 to support their war effort during the afghan debacle while publicly supporting & funding the mudjahidins and well.. the cold war thing you know..)

>Silver is neither rare, valuable or necessary

>Yes, silver is considered a rare and precious metal. While not as rare as gold, silver is still limited in supply and has significant industrial and monetary demand, making it a valuable commodity.

>Yes, silver is generally considered valuable due to its industrial uses, investment potential, and historical role as a store of value. While it's less expensive than gold, silver's lower price point can make it more accessible for investors, and it has demonstrated the ability to offer higher percentage gains during bull markets according to Nasdaq.

>Silver has many important industrial and technological uses, particularly due to its excellent electrical conductivity and antibacterial properties.

For the ones interested, that means an average of 7% growth in industrial needs yearly from 2000-2024.
If it continues to grow at the same pace it did for the past 24 years, by 2034 the industrial demand will be 1,338Moz! Meanwhile, we are stuck at mining 800-850Moz/y for like a decade.

Better start trying to figure out a solution because i'm not sure a -500Moz yearly deficit (for industrials alone) a decade from now is sustainable.

Nah, keep in mind i'm only talking about heavy industries here, it does not account for investment silver (bars, coins, rounds) nor jewerly. For the past 5 years we already experienced a large deficit.
We currently are using the surplus from the previous decades, back when silver needs for industries wasn't nearly that large and investment silver accounted for the majority of the production.
But we can't expect those reserves to be infinite, apparently the reserves are already getting stretched very thin. Soon industrials are gonna beg for stacktards to give them few pity coins.

I have a similar setup for Libre Office, but it taps into Financial Times, and only the five metals I can - Au, Pd, Pt, Ag, and Cu. I can't find a source for Rh. I guess it just doesn't move that much.
I too have the delay. With Libre I have two columns: live and static. The live only updates when I hit the "Update" option. Then a third column shows the delta if <>0, and I'll copy/paste-as-value into the static after I've pondered a while.
Pic related, but weekend - no update to show.

Sure but going by that logic gold experience a yearly 96% surplus of production, since only 4% only get used by industries and nearly all of it ends up in bars & jewelry.

The idea that people are going to part with jewelry any time soon is plainly retarded. People either buy as much as they need for insurance or have emotional attachment to it. Hey anons I have a question. What if I took out a loan from my bank and used my stack as collateral. Then I use the loan to buy more silver and gold. Basically double my stack. Then pay off the loan over the next three years. During that time silver will likely triple. By the end of Trump's presidency the original $10,000 could become $40,000-$50,000. Seems like a great way to accelerate wealth. Lock in the stack at a fixed interest loan while the dollar inflates. Why not keep doing this year after year? Everyone in this thread should be using the banks to enrich themselves.

1. no bank will take your stack as collateral
2. if they do take your stack as collateral they're going to literally take it. They'll need to physically have it in their possession.
3. Since nobody wants your collateral this is just a signature loan, and that depends on your income and credit score.
4. so while you might be able to continuously keep getting loans, there's a limit to how big they'll go and that limit is your income and credit score.

and anon's stack is part of ALL KNOWN SILVER

This means that the comex and other exchanges are already loaning money against anon's stack without his permission. And that's true of every stack here. Every single ounce that /pmg/ owns is being borrowed against at 400 to 1 leverage without their permission or knowledge.

sure it is. House? they physically own it. Car? they physically own it. and the reason car loans are 5 times more expensive than house loans is because you can hide a car.

collateral is usually real estate you can't hide. Sometimes it's a car which is difficult to hide and probably has GPS tracking for the bank.
It's almost never a wad of metal you could easily hide or lose in a boating accident or whatever.

no it is literally a list of major asset classes by historical returns over the last 10, 20, 50, 100, or 150 years.

stocks rule because divies. Gold is next. Houses after that. Silver near the bottom, and bonds and speculative commodities generally below them.

some stuff like plat or water have outperformed them all over a 100 year span, but that's a matter of chemistry rather than investment.

My grandpa panned gold on cherry creek in denver all day to buy a can of beans and a slice of bacon.

I've panned cherry creek, I can get .5-1 grams per day there. Imagine a world where $100 worth of gold buys a can of beans and a slice of bacon. That's the world of the great depression.

Any stock that beats gold is due to speculative investing. Plus, when hyperinflation devalues the dollar and institutions can't keep their positions up, they are legally allowed to take everyone's stocks to keep themselves afloat. (((They))) are working on another wealth grab ร  la the Great Depression, and they will close banks to force you and me into relinquishing our things to them. Silver will hit an all time high this month, few people realize how close we are.

The last time silver went above 40 it moved to 50 immediately the following week, the sudden and explosive moves that silver is known for are still yet to come.

I had given up actually, and was just using that as an example. But now that you mention it...
I set up accounts most places I buy from, but I've never used the "notify me" option either. I just go to another site, and worse come to worst, will go to Apmex or ebay. But I have to really want that item. It happens, like to complete a series.

I haven't used the notify option on TD, but I have used it on other sites and my luck with that has been bad. If you're not following the link and checkout process immediately after you receive the email you will usually be SOL.

Even though I now own 3 2020 2oz goose I have a notification with one site, which restocked a few weeks ago. I was only a minute or two late looking at the email and by the time I went to purchase it was sold out, again. On certain items I'm sure it could work for us, but the more popular items have many anons looking for the same notification which turns into a race of who can checkout first.

Bought my 2 oz goose a few weeks back from TD. Tried buying one months ago but they kept having issues with paying with online and the only option was paying at the branch (but that's for account holders only). Eventually they fixed that issue and I went to order but it was out of stock but I checked again after a few days and that had some so I bought immediately.

The 2020 that I got a notification on was listed on PMX website. I have no idea if or when they will get more but if you are looking for one subscribe to that notify me button.

I usually find what I want on TD, PMX, SGB or the coin shoppe. If it's not there I will use colonial acres but find their pricing a few points higher and I will usually have to pay for shipping which eats into the cost a bit too.

Generally I find TD and SGB to be the cheapest even with paying with credit or without a TD account. Never ordered from PMX because they're usually expensive but I have bough coins from their numismatic site. I buy from colonial acres a lot mainly because of their sales but it depends what you get there. I have bought on junk silver under spot and some bullion for less than TDs prices. Normally I just shop around and buy from whoever's the cheapest for what I want because prices seem to vary a lot between sellers

Shitcoin and stocks are pre-collapse investment schemes for people who bet on retiring before the collapse. I don't bet on retiring before collapse since I'm neither a boomer nor a gen-xboomer. Neither will be worth anything post-collapse, whereas gold and silver have inherent value.
>but right after collapse nobody will want gold for food
Whataboutism is not an argument.

I'm old so I decided to just enjoy the old stuff I like(d) and ignore the (((new))) stuff. If you like it you're buying it for being silver and if you can enjoy the design and find it fun imo enjoy. (((They're))) making us all resentful and cynical and ruin anything nice. So if you just want to keep enjoying certain things I think that's healthy.

>Does anyone else get bad nerves on the weekend?
Nope. I stroll through my U&A metal sites and decide which one has the most of what I want to get to free shipping, then put it all in the cart and wait until markets open on Sunday. If prices go up for an hour or so, I buy right away. If they go down, I wait until Monday Noonish New York time and buy. Prices often start going up again after that. But really it's just one of many purchases over the years so it's more like a penny-ante game to do that.
This weekend I bought an ozt of gold on Friday though. Trends seem to be upward, so I find waiting makes me uncomfortable.

My dealer likes me a lot. Iโ€™m thinking about asking him if we can work out some sort of a deal. If the silver to gold ratio gets to 10 to 1. Iโ€™d probably be willing to unload my silver for 15 to 1, maybe even 20 to 1. I canโ€™t imagine itโ€™s going to be easy to try and swap when everyone wants to swap their silver for gold at these low ratios.

Yeah, I understand. Right now there's a coin I'd like to get for my kid, but it's colorized. Same price as a non-colorized, but that one is out of stock. I was doing some searching and some people had said you could possibly be forced to sell for less than spot because the colorized coins are not popular with dealers. Don't want to screw my kids down the line.

No need to be shy - point to it or post a picture.
In general: colorized is usually purchased new by people who really like the meme, or like you want to give it to someone else they think likes the meme. Either way, it's hard to recoup the full value if spot doesn't change.
Then you have to think of the subject. A lot of people like zodiacal stuff, and it seems to hold better interest than say stodgy government leaders on coins. So that's good.
Fractional means it's more affordable. So if you sell, more buyers are likely to say, "What the heck, it's only $..."
But being that this is a special purchase with sentimental value, it may never get sold, becoming a family heirloom.

I believe silver will be up 100% this year, 60$ or more.
It has a safe baseline at 30$ which it won't fall under due to rising demand.
Plus I get to fondle my silver physically. Bitcoin is too risky since it could fall -100% at any given point

Pitiful looking steaks. There's grey parts on it. We know you're poor. You don't have to prove it to us with your second rate discount meats.
