>>60618873 (OP)>How did land become so expensive on the largest fucking island in the world?mass migration meaning land will only become more valuable over time + the effects it has on wage suppression + working class surburbs getting migrants dumped undemocratically on them leading to very justified NIMBYism among all parts of society + pro-immigrant multiculturalists just kicking the housing can down the road for 2 decades "hurr durr we don't need less immigrants we just need to build more houses" then not doing either in a unholy alliance between socially progressive anti racists and right wing business interests campaigning against immigration restrictions relentlessly
>>60618879>>60618890people blame the boomers but they never even had a choice in the matter, no goverments ever won and election of the promise of bringing more immigrants into the country, the problem is that the labor party sold out in the 80s and betrayed the working class and implemented all of the Liberal partys economic policies, so the boomers were left with the choice between Labor that wanted to implement Neoliberal econmic policys vs Liberals that wanted to implement Neoliberal policys (this situation is probably what caused the rise of Pauline Hanson in the 90s)
What happened is that when the Frasier goverment was trying to implement some Neoliberal policies in the later 70s and early 80s the unions would all start kicking up a shitstorm forcing the liberals to backoff, but once Labor under Bob Hawk got in the unions all just bent over, the unions that were meant to represent the working class all just bent over because the labor party was in power, its all fucking ridiculous really, in retrospect the boomers and labor movement were better off just voting in the keynesian Frasier goverment forever instead of letting bob hawks neoliberal labor get into power.
