China does a great job in taking care of their people. I was very impressed during my visits. But lets not forget it is only accomplished through MASSIVE levels of authoritarianism. Unsure what you're referring to. The reason China had large economic and human development is a) the Great Leap Forward and b) the economic reforms and positioning by Deng Xiaoping. Jiang Zemin is another person to study on his management of SEZs and development.

It means that controlled capitalism (which arguably isn't really capitalism but then again who cares in practice) works well at developing quickly. The long-term nature of plans coupled with more efficient resource allocation via market reform led to this.

China, internally, is partly ethno-supremacist and partly Communist. They still talk about colonialism, ally ontologically with the "Third World" etc., but take pragmatic steps to reduce diversity. People calling it communist, marxist, etc., it's just a big grift really.

Eh, I've seen some Chinese propaganda and they do the "56 ethnic groups holding hands and united in the Chinese nation" stuff with the different ethnicities represented. They might all look the same to us but it's a theme they bang on about. But it's all about (a rather authoritarian) unity, not division. Chinese philosophy imho is really the "middle path."
