maglev is meme showoff tech that eliminates a non 80/20 pareto issue with huge costs and maintenance.

people keep sharing these crazy mega structures and weird electronic gadgets from china, and I get that I'm supposed to be impressed but all I can think is some poor chink farmer with no teeth and nothing to eat. I can't shake the feeling that china is just masking their poverty and how bad it is to live there as the average person there.

The real tech that came out of china is them being a very efficient gigafactory.
All the tech that's coming out, drones, these meme suspensions, electric motors are all shit that existed since the 60s except they're quality mass produced.
They still can't seem to crack software, and we'll see how it goes for genomics. I don't work in the field but from afar what I see is that it's all collabs with western labs.

all the advancements in AI software were chinks behind python libraries
they are wayyyy ahead
they haven't cracked art and taste because they burned it all down in the civil wars, and communism sucks at art
I wouldn't be surprised if they have a nu civil war and emerge as the most prosperous capitalist entity
they keep throwing money at making their kids into software devs rather than being retarded like the US and making trannies and women software devs
face it, the US not having maglevs because "niggers will import themselves into my neighborhood" is copium for treating men like shit we don't even have the money to play with magnets

Yes because all the wealth there is centralised in the CCP (businesses essentially being subsidised by the CCP with limited autonomy). Private wealth is very low. Europe is probably the best middle ground between private and state wealth, and America is the worst of both worlds, where people are in tons of debt and the state doesn't spend anything on infrastructure.

You're probably right about China, I think as long as it works for the ruling party they'll keep the capitalism thing going, but I don't think it's going to last.

For maglevs I gave you the reason as to why it's shit, I did a one year stint for major EU rails, the maintenance on classic rails and electrification is absolutely gargantuan that I wonder how it even works economically, maglev would literally be burning money. As much of a meme it is Elon understood the main hurdle quite quickly when he proposed hyperloop, basically reducing air friction by removing air, doesn't have to be a vacuum but still an impossible task.

instead we still have bunker fuel burning diesels
US is just obsessed with karens and their air conditioned pods

>how come japan does it since the 70s and it just werks?
Does it? What’s going on with the Chuo Shinkansen?
Why is 99%, no joke, just conventional HSR expansion?

China has already built a sprawling HSR network which people love to link on X as how fast china builds new rail. If they’re pivoting to maglev, they’ll quickly discover why developed countries cling to legacy systems, integration, cost containment and other gov shit.

Maybe they figure it out, and then it's going to be Wakanda who implements that new proven easy to implement solution.

That said China is ready to destroy existing systems, I've heard accounts from Chinese why Europe clings to history and doesn't destroy cultural useless stuff and just builds high tech, high rises. Probably Mao instilled in them the need to destroy for new stuff to happen. But then comes the question about why they claim Taiwan stole all their shit, while it's just old chinese that fled with their wares. Like how now enlightened African nations say Bri'ish museums stole everything and when they get it back, it gets stolen, lost or destroyed.

Idk about the US, the country seems extremely big for electric rail to be economically feasable with long distance power transmission.
You say they're bunker fuel burning meme engines, have you ever seen a cross section of what it looks like? The complexity is absolutely insane.

What's the point of driving to the train station, paying for parking then taking a train to another city to have to rent a car once I'm there? That makes no sense. To just go to another city you can just drive your car. It only makes sense if you are going a long distance and in that case just get a plane ticket.

Yeah but the difference is because China's pumping retarded amounts of affordable tech out, you even have retarded village idiots earning near min wage who know who to use tech and has a couple of gadgets. You'd be very hard pressed to find anyone actually starving now. 2000s? Sure. 2025? Anyone who's still starving is mentally ill or that by choice (aka, same as the US)

You are not using the EU/China policy: The citizen is under tight management and does not own a car. The citizens gets sent to another city by the system. The citizen is granted a rented and ideologically compliant rideshare to the train station, where the citizen is transported to the next city with a train.

we're being "lead" by cartels of powerful kleptocrats. Many of whom aren't even nationals. They have no interest in improving the nations they stand astride.
In time maybe China will descend into such a state. Maybe, because nothing is a given, and judging over there by our standards is far too common an error. Meanwhile they are still not too far on from a national awakening that has directed enormous energies into improving the place.

Where do you put your things without a car? Do you just walk around carrying bags and go into stores with bags from other stores in hand? What if I stop by a liquor store, grocery store and then a returant in that order? You can't just bring those things in. Do you all where school bags everywhere like children?

driving to airports sucks, TSA sucks, airports themselves suck, boarding and off-boarding suck, and there's a 50% chance you'll die from boeing pajeet software crashing or a suicidal pilot flying into the ground or cutting the fuel.

also airplanes are cramped and suck ass unless you spend like $10k on business class seats.

America could definitely consider those trains on the west and east coast and the Midwest corridor but the rest of the country is redundant. It doesn’t have the population and metropolitan density of Europe and China.

If we spent all that money on air travel improvements we would have a gigantic fleet of 1man crewed aircraft zipping NYC to LA in 45 minutes

I’d also rather not adopt Chinese living standards, I’m not racist but Chinese and Japanese people do live up to the “bug” name when they live in shoeboxes, cram themselves onto molestation trains and go to work for 14 hours a day to afford bread

Half of china is literally one big desert. The japanese atleast are able to mass produce products with artisanal skill. Theyre unable to prosper when theres 152 bugmen in literally every square kilometer in pic. Rel.

Despite it's lack of quality, it's impressive when a communist AND national socialist nation is able to coerce their citizens through violence and democide to genuinely bring millions of people out of abject poverty. They did it better than the soviets which you can applaud.

What you see on social media is genuinely just for show compared to the tofu dreg and literal poisoning their citizens go through daily. You think india is filthy? Well look at their neighbors up north.

I've travelled through China, tier1/2 cities and mountain villages.
Farmers in villages are living in 5 bedroom mansions. The houses are literally shaped like shoeboxes but they aren't shoebox sized.
The only place with shoebox apartments is Hong Kong. Even in Shanghai 1-2 bedroom apartments are a decent size considering the population density.
