Pretty sure both careers along with knowledge work in general will get fucked by AI. The firm I work at is already trying to train LLMs on repetitive tasks. We won't need AGI to automate the majority of white collar work. I'm an accountant and have no idea what this industry will look like in 5 years time. A developer friend has found it hard to get a new job after being laid off so I think they're the first victims

I don't see it happening. The standards for accountancy are "it needs to be perfect." For tech, the standard is "Fuck it, that'll do." You don't see sloppy code, but you DO see when your tax return is all fucked and the IRS audits the shit out of you.

What I see happening is AI hallucinates something big, or, someone tampers with the AI, and it causes a multi-million dollar loss, and there's a huge scandal, and standards tighten, and it doesn't get used for anything more complex than journal entries - and you still need to pay a junior to tard wrangle it.

AI is so overblown right now it's painful. It's useful for artslop and writing YA novellas and little else. Piece of shit fucks up reciting the alphabet sometimes and you think it'll replace precision accounting? The 2027 AI singularity isn't happening, unless by AI you mean "actually India". > the dogshit ai spits out is embarrassing
>its the same dogshit as people saying "look at all these charts ai can produce for me"
same stuff was being said about ai art just 2 years ago lol

i don't think you guys quite get it yet, for white collar jobs the ai doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be near perfect, then some accountant from the third world will have a quick over view to see if its right, probably just chucking into a few different AIs to make sure the results are consistent, then giving it back to one of the last accountants not yet fired by the company for a second lookover and some quick proof calculations to make sure the ai didn't fuck it up then giving it a stamp of approval

same shits going to happen to almost all white collar industrys, HR being a big one. HR will just be 1 guy taking 2 employees complaints and copy pasting it into 5 different HR AIs trained on the companys code of conduct and national and state laws then coming to a conclusion on what the correct way to prosneed is from what the ai spat out

i'm kind of with you man. i work at a big 4 accounting firm and my work as an associate is busy work. straight up number crunching while looking at a checklist.

what your describing is literally my experience.
like you do not need an education to do this, you do not need a human to do this. that's why there is a HUGE push for off shore workers. yes their work is worse, yes it has mistakes in it. WHO fucking cares, they get most of it done, it costs 1/10th of an American, and then the on-shore team can fix anything egregious. CPA certifications can be acquired by non-US citizens now too

FIRST years are getting laid off because of this shit. the supposed most stable, boring job in the world is laying off their first year college hires. think about that.

It's the same thing though. Indians are such fuckups and so is AI that any finance or accounting work that you flood it with is liable to get your whole company sued. But no one will realize this until the first lawsuits go out and they realize all their money is missing and ranjesh is "sorry" and "will pay for it saar".

accountants (not clerks or AP/AR/bookkeeping wagies) get paid to exercise judgement and continually review things to uphold a control environment. most routine tasks have already been automated for decades by ERP software and add-on tools like transaction matching engines.

an AI can't be held responsible for review and approval in a SOX environment. the CFO/CAO or VP/controller doesn't have the bandwidth to review staff level work of an AI accountant that would otherwise be scrutinized by a manager.

also like >>60634267 says, AI (LLMs) is a mentally retarded scam. even with 'perfect' inputs it is prone to hallucinating total nonsense. anyone who has worked in accounting or auditing can tell you the inputs are usually clusterfucked garbage and so LLMs stand no chance at being useful or correct. if you want a more realistic view of the threats and what the future may hold, just look at what F500s and B4 accounting firms are doing: outsourcing staff level work to brown nigger retard shitskins in india. as retarded and worthless as they (i manage 2 of them), they are infinitely smarter than these kike retard LLM scams.

in my country if you have masters/engineer diploma in related field you can teach if you get certifications. But you can and should get teaching job before being certified and do the certifcation during your first years teaching and your school will pay for it. If you have degree in something to do with math or science you can just walk into random highschool and announce that you are looking for a job and they will most likely give it to you and sort the certficates out with you, or just write email. Idk how it is in USA, so just ask someone.

i do 90-120 minutes a day, 5 days a week of focused studying which means no distractions or dicking around. i did probably 120-150 hours for FAR, 80-100 hours for AUD, and 50 hours for ISC.

20-30% of your studying time spent on reading and re-reading the lecture notes (ninja notes) and the book (ninja book or whatever it's called) if the notes dont give you enough detail. i never watched videos or audio notes.

the other 70-80% of your time should be spent doing MCQs, over and over and over and over again. if you get something wrong then read the explanation to understand why you got it wrong. if you got something right then read the explanation to understand that you got the question right for the right reason.

i did a handful of simulated tasks for each section. the vast majority of my time is spent on MCQs.

understood the bare basics, never memorized them.

reddit.com/r/cpa is useful but if you see idiots bitching about failing an exam 5 times or spending huge amounts of time memorizing shit you need to take it with a huge grain of salt because they're wasting their time on retarded nonsense and not focusing on what matters: doing MCQs and understanding why they're getting shit right/wrong.
