Hello this is my first time here, I have a job now and I am wondering if I should keep using my debit card or change to a mastercard or something? I dont really care about money but I sort of want to use the best possible alternative. Norwegiancuck btw

Is that niggertoro?
Also why borrowing money if you have a job now... If you want the best alternative why not just use Bitcoin

You should begin using a credit card for smaller consistent payments like gas or other necessities. This will build your credit for when you really want to start leveraging it for other things. Credit cards are fine if you aren't a brick about it despite what many say.

Just use a credit card like your debit card and pay in full every month. Some cards also have different perks like more cash back on groceries or gas. Pay attention to that.

Bitcoint? No idea how that works, I just know mastercard or something is better than debit if you can pay it back monthly

I recently changed my internet provider and they said I have a low credit score despite never being late with my payments and stuff

simple, use a credit card like you already use your debit card. don't change your spending habits. credit card is much safer if the number gets leaked

How low exactly? If you are a new user your credit score isn't really established abd wouldn't be high to begin with.

There wasn't a number, I was just evaluated as having low credit score. Tbf it's my first time paying for internet myself so maybe that's why

Get a credit card and use it for a portion of your utility bills that keeps you under 15% of your credit limit.
Do that consistently for 6mo - 1 year as your credit builds, paying it off in full each month.
Apply for a better card with a larger credit limit. Keep spending below 15% of your credit limit outside emergencies, and don't spend more than you can afford.
When the credit limit is high enough you can just use credit cards for near everything, just keep it below 15% and pay it off.
Reap small rewards, while gradually growing your credit. Depending on the card you're using, it can be a few percent of all your spending back in your pocket.

People on this form will tell you credit scores are useless, that's only true if you're already rich.
Otherwise, you'll need it for renting an apartment, or getting a mortgage, not to mention you might want a car loan at some point.

you should find out what that score is through some sort of credit check app

a credit card has several benefits like rewards points sometimes as high as 5%, and fraud protection built in, something not so common as credit cards. as long as you pay off the balance every month you will never pay interest. credit cards are a no-brainer if you're non-retarded

you have to deliberately put yourself into debt, credit cards don't hold a gun to your head and make you spend more than you earn. anyone who is in credit card debt did it to themselves. treat them like a debit card and you will never have a problem going into debt. pay off the balance in full every month, and you will never pay a dime in interest. ive had credit cards for six years and ive never paid interest on them

Blaming the tool is incorrect
You need to start building credit with purchases you CAN pay off so you can save on purchases in the future
The low credit score you mentioned will fuck you over loan rates when/if you buy a car house boat etc
Credit cards can make it easier to fall into debt, but not necessarily
If you fear debt but still want to build credit, I would suggest a secured credit card.

I've been looking to build my credit. Does /biz/ have a good chart on which cards to progress through?

I used to think this too and then just realized my parents are poor and reckless with their spending. Yes it's bad if you go full retard but it'd be the same if you just spent your fucking debit card until you're overdrawn. If you are already conservative with your spending then you'll be fine.

This, also don't forget to request a credit limit increase every two months or so for each of your cards, there's zero penalty for being denied so there's no reason not to. Higher credit limit means better credit score (assuming your credit utilization is less than 30%.)
