oh also - i do more or less the same but I remove the compass at the top + quest markers. makes it more intersting to stumble upon locations and makes you learn the map. no fast travelling also.

Nice, was told once that Morrowind is the best for this kind of OG exploring game, but the graphics too old for me to enjoy.
