You can thank Enron and Sarbanes Oxley for the size and dominance of the audit industry. Tax at big accounting firms is similar, giant teams of accountants mapping things and looking at laws to essentially help their clients avoid as many taxes they possibly can. There's a lot of things going on in a business and company management is often very aggressive in what they think can be achieved. Audit, theoretically, has a duty to the public to ensure companies are accurately publishing their numbers. I dont really see the point in being angry about it
