ChainlinkGod on twitter told us to use a VPN to get rewards and said he did it himself, but i found this in the TOS? Now I'm going to get sued by Chainlink and lose all my staked LINK. How the fuck can this be legal, isn't he a paid employee of chainlink labs? I was just following his advice.

I can't even undo it or give it back. Should I e-mail chainlink and ask them what to do? I would much rather have my LINK than the SXT. This is really unfair because ChainlinkGod is an advocate and he's usually right about stuff

They have logs of my IP connected to my wallet and they wouldn't put this in their TOS for shits and giggles. They specifically called out VPNs. I'm going to keep the SXT reward in a siloed off wallet for now so I can be prepared to give it back when I get sued and show I didn't even use the rewards when I realized it was illegal.

Just not gonna use a VPN for a $1000 airdrop it's not worth the risk.

Yes because "may subject US to liability" would make no sense in a TOS policy from a legal perspective. It just allows them to say they made a reasonable effort to comply with the law in the court, which is also the purpose of the IP filter. By the way, it would have been trivial for them to ALSO ban IPs from known major vpn services, but they didn't, which is how we know they don't actually care.

This is purely out of idle furio8, I have no plans of doing this. If you're a US citizen, and went abroad to claim your rewards, what's the legal situation there? I'm genuinely interested in how that would work. Not in a practical sense, but going by the letter of the law. Is that illegal?

This is incorrect. Americans were not allowed to participate in the ICO, but buying coins on exchanges afterwards was fine

>Who exactly do you think is coming after you?

It's highly unlikely OP would be sued by anyone, but the TOS circumvention could be problematic in the future if any of staking/build incentives require KYC. In that scenario, Chainlink could deny him access in order for them to remain compliant.
