I was gonna get like my taxes from every year and have an AI go over them. It would cost like $10,000 for an accountant to do that.

we have had this thread before and there too posts as retarded as yours came in
this will not kill all accounts but will drastically reduce the need for them in the entire economy
now without an equal amount of accounts dropping out of the profession to rebalance supply and demand what do you think this will do to accountant earnings?

OP is prob mid 20s and having life "discovery" moments thinking he figured out life. He'll look back at these and laugh 10 years from now re how retarded he was

>this will not kill all accounts but will drastically reduce the need for them

Doubtful. There's a huge demand as is. Bill Gates said the same about doctors which is also laughable.

Maybe some of the lower level data entry and software gets more efficient with AI tech but that's about it

>>60651150
>the only real use accountants have nowadays is assisting in tax disputes when the authorities actually audit you

Lmao, credibility lost. You should have prefaced that with your personal tax situation, which is extremely simple. There's multiple levels above you of people that own things that need to speak with acct's every week. And of course public companies need entire departments for financial statement reporting which I'm sure you were aware of

Also what did he mean by ChatGPT "doing" the taxes... Did it actually submit the tax return to the IRS? How?

you are on /biz/ a bit presumptuous to be making that statement
ancient shitcoining is about the most complex issue there currently is, optimizing the tradfi/real estate part is relatively easy
anyways for my personal situation accountants are worth jack and shit i have to pay ridiculously expansive tax attorneys, but thats another debate

and as far as i know the institutional accountancy needs are rapidly being outsourced to ai, that is actual indians as retarded as that sounds
again real ai as it is right now is perfected for automating accountancy, its an entirely digital data problem with clear formulaic procedures this is what ai is best at to do
people really have no fucking idea what a tidal wave will come over them
but as always this is /biz/ where the greatest retards speak with the same authority as the old guard here
so i will not bother wasting more time trying to convince you, just remember the prediction here made and see it play out in reality in the not too distant future and i'll let lurkers make up their own mind

Im taking accounting classes in college currently.

AI is nothing more than fucking google on steroids. It excels at regurgitating information but is laughably bad at correctly applying that information. If anything, it will make these jobs much easier, but I don't see it replacing an actual human any time soon.

Well, me mum filed her taxes for herself and me pa for about a decade with software. And yes, her taxes were difficult to file. Now she gets an accountant for the past years. And yes, it is difficult for the accountant too.

If software and person could do it, why would ai not be able to do it today or future?

Of course it will, but thats why I said anytime soon. Also part of the reason why people go to an accountant is for the human element. So it wont ever fully replace accountants completely. Maybe in a few generations if gen alpha and beta no longer care about any human interaction anymore.

More like because people dont want to do it themselves and it is complex situation for some peopld. But I can see AI doing it in the future. Like how brokerages send your stuff to government, you upload your stuff to an ai and it does it. This is what the most basic tax situation is like for 60% of Americans are like anyways. What is so hard to believe that 80% of accountants will be obsolete. Only like the top 20% Americans even need an accountant due to complexity and laziness. If ai can replace half of that, that is like half of accountants getting fired.

don't most other countries just mail you how much you owe rather than making you pay to find out despite them seemingly already knowing how much you owe?

>>60651063
most people only have that or just the w2 alone. you act as if every single person is actively trading stocks, crypto, owns a business (that turns a profit and has employees), and is also a wagie for a business that isn't his. lol, i doubt AI is at that level to handle w2's and 1099's without heavy assistance from the user.

Literally impossible for me, my account, the government or AI. Everyone's given up on it
>Made trades by the minute on random exchanged since 2017
>Most of them got shut down randomly or died, couldn't even log in to make claims or recover details
>Liquidated almost everything in the Bitmex days
>Started from scratch in 2022
Now I simply do a manual spreadsheet whenever I make a trade, which also keeps my trading habits in check as inputting trades is too tedious
