Serious talk dude, this is coming from a 24 year old going into the army soon, dude just go talk to a recruiter its not too late. I thought I was too old for it until I saw a dude in his 40s talk with a recruiter. Its possible. Just dont be a dumbass and wait until 50 then its really not possible.
Probably you'll be with a lot of high schoolers in basic but 30% of the military is dudes in their 30s and older. You'll fit. You'll have way more years of life experience on you than the kids coming in and it will help you.
I'd say my biggest reason for joining is going to uni on the G.I. bill and getting out of the nonwhite city I live in. Second biggest personal reason is access to the VA loan when I get out but probably you wouldnt know anything about that yet.
If you put in a morsel of effort and make it to E4, you can escape poverty through the military. Imagine dumping the majority of your military pay ($30k+ a year) into a Roth IRA and TSP over 4 years. Imagine buying the rock bottom of the upcoming bear market while living for free while only having to 9-5 for a few years, thats gonna be me. Could be you. Or anyone. Its not difficult to get in the military nowadays unless i dont know, you want to join spec ops or something.
Air Force is universally known as the easy branch but its obscenely hard to get a hold of recruiters though, good luck with that.
