I get what you're saying but I've been in crypto so long I think I've got a chance at this.

>If bitcoin doesn't hit $150k I'd be in same position as if I held.
>If it hits $150k then declines massively I will be massively up.
>If it hits $300k or so then crashes I still think it will decrease to less than $150k in the inevitable post cycle crash
>If it exceeds $300k then I will be down, but imo this outcome is highly unlikely. In addition it would mean there is much more life in bitcoin and unless I make some completely retarded moves I will still be rich by 30.

Keep in mind I am not paying capital gains tax. I also have a very high paying job which acts as an insurance if things go completely to shit. Finally I am flexible with selling, it is a mix on the price but also the time so if it's December and still $120k I will sell cause post cycle crash is likely imminent.

Why this all-in all-out mentality? Have you thought about doing more gradual moves? I don't get why people want to pin their entire strategy on a specific price getting hit.

Because it is really stressful with this amount and I want to keep that to a minimum.

If you are new to crypto I would not be buying now. I would wait until after the cycle

Doesn't exist in the UK and haven't sold.

It isn't very hard just move to Jersey, IoM or Guernsey as a UK citizen and use a tax residence calculator and you can work out.

how long do you need to be there to count as a tax resident and are there any conditions after you sell?
also isn't it expensive to live there?

You only need to live in Jersey 7 months of the year to qualify as a tax resident.

Cost of living is higher than the UK, similar to London and house prices are crazy(£600k for a terraced two bed) but there are some great properties on the Island for the super wealthy (£2million - £30million)

No conditions on crypto sales, simply no Capital Gains tax whatsoever or inheritance tax, or corporate tax and income tax is capped at 20%.

No VAT on purchases either only GST at 5% so in theory online shopping should be cheaper but often the extra postage costs level it out.

Best weather in the UK and what's more its one of the safest places in the world. But fuck off, we're full. Unless you're rich.

Yeah so like if you were a UK resident, just hypothetically, with about 12 BTC, would it be worth moving to Jersey for a year to avoid the CGT and make a few hundred thousand pounds in tax efficiency? Is it really that simple? I guess not otherwise everyone would do it

>really stressful
You probably shouldn't be investing that much money if you can't handle the stress/emotions, it's going to lead you to making emotional decisions and you're going to end up falling into the same FOMO/FUD patterns as every other normie who loses their trust fund.

Good man. Fuck CGT, without indexation it is a pernicious tax on capital itself, and even with indexation it's straight up theft. CGTMIN should be talked about here more

It really is that simple and everyone who is anyone already does it, most just use the Island for tax residency and don't even live here for 7 months as the Island doesn't really check desu.

Most people on the planet don't even know about Jersey and couldn't find it on map. Unless you were a bovine enthusiast, asked if there was an old Jersey or work in fiduciary services you would have no reason to be aware of our existence.

So many ass raping taxes are literally unique to the States and you guys still think its the land of the free lol. Its actually very expensive.

I think you can do it the second once you move as long as for the tax year you will be there. You have to stay outside the UK for 5 years total, this is the biggest issue.

>>60661571
I would run the numbers for your scenario because the difference in tax savings can be huge and a lot larger than you would first expect.

>>60661580
I mean I've got this far, barely anyone does. I just don't see the point actively trading in smaller goes since it makes it so much more complex and stressful

>>60661598
Being able to avoid wealth taxes easily is like the only good thing. It is much, much harder to actually make money in the first place here, your income will be taxed harder and most stuff is more expensive.

I'm a doctor and the key advantages of the crown dependencies are that it's very easy to do my medical training here, very easy to move here in general, easy to buy property (I am in jersey at moment for med school, not easy here but thinking of moving to IoM afterwards) and easy to access the UK. Overall it's almost like half way between properly moving abroad and staying in UK.

I had no idea Germany didn't have crypto tax so thankyou for sharing but I wouldn't want to live there unless everyone speaks English and the visa situation is good.

I also considered USA, Canada, Australia, NZ, Ireland but these all tax investments.
