>Britbong here, 29.
>~£370k net worth, liquid assets, most in stocks some crypto.
>No house, no car, £45k remote job. Still live with parents.

My life for all intents and purposes is exactly the same as it was when I started; wake up, work, finish work, most days feel empty. I have a loving gf, I go to the gym, have friends but we're all so busy lucky to hang out once a month. I am aware I'm in a blessed position to be in and work hard, but I feel lost as to what my next steps are in life. Anyone else been in a similar position and what steps did you take?

Your income's pretty low and consequently you aren't maximizing your net worth.
You'd be better off seeking a better paid job even if you have to add rent or a house in.
Feeling lost and directionless isn't relevant; being able to think about the meaning of life is a luxury you can't, frankly, afford.

uk salaries top out at £100k pre-tax. not much point earning beyond £70k imo.

£370k is and isnt a lot. really you need to 10x that. not sure how to do that without massive risk.

i know for sure - i definitely wouldnt buy real estate right now. unironically the best thing is maybe a side hustle of some kind - i can't think of anything else that doesn't involve putting all your life savings on red.

I'm not in London, income is well above the median relative to cost of living where I live. But it is one of my goals to find a new job in the next year.

You guys are so fucking detached from reality holy shit

You feel lost because society tells you you’re a loser for living with your parents. You have more money than most people will see in their lifetime.

Have kids or get plenty of hobbies

bullshit, there is a lot of point because the UK has wrapper schemes that can protect you from most forms of capital gains tax
UK salaries are relatively low but are massively tax advantaged if you save into a low cost equity invested pension and sacrifice the max 60K a year.
that'll take care of you after you hit age 57 (could be a little higher by then)
our ISAs are also a very good deal, always ISAmaxx

>£370k is and isnt a lot. really you need to 10x that.
i'd say 1.5M is enough for a comfortable life if you own property.
but the natural rate of growth won't let you FIRE yet. get a better job and start saving using the generous tax wrappers before labour takes them away

I'm a britbong with no hope of a real job cause I was a retarded tony montana wannabe at 18. could always be worse anon. neetbux into crypto is virtually the only avenue I have to make 300k+, and there's a 95% I just lose instead. make a date with your gf, spend a little, and enjoy yourself. you could die tomorrow, and us retards of the world would suddenly be doing better than you.

never did figure out why youre so obsessed with isa wrappers. £20k is peanuts. over 10 years you got £200k, lets say it appreciates to £300k if the s&p does really well. this isn't exactly good money...

because after that first 10 years most of the value comes from growth and as soon as it's in the wrapper it's CGT free, that's 24% extra money.

example:
contribute 20K a year for 20 years, at 7% growth it's worth 820K, that's 420K growth, neglecting the first 3K using the ISA has given you an extra £101K. that's a good deal.

same with the UK's very nice salary sacrifice. the US doesn't have anything like that. you can put a lot of money beyond the reach of the taxman if you don't mind locking it up till your fifties.

your problem OP is that you have a lot of money but not for the UK

that's a lot of money for Romania or Bulgaria, where you should relocate with your remote jobs

UK is unaffordable if you are not a millionnaire
